Dolomite Is My Name

I enjoyed Eddies Comedy flicks way more. Carreys goofy humor is cool is spurts but 90 mins can get a bit much.

Carrey on the other hand has been in much better dramas.

Murphy. Carrey is the better comedian and is also a really good impressionist, but I prefer rewatching Murphy’s films. Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber are classics, but never felt the need to rewatch them. In Living Color was classic too. Tough pick.

No competition for me, Eddie Murphy was popular during the 80s and 90s, but Carey crafted a niche completely for himself.

No one could replicate the performances he put on in ace Ventura, the mask, dumb and dumber and the cable guy, completely unique and hilarious.

Eddie had his own style, but nowhere near as original / out there / off the wall as Carey..

Eddie is hilarious and I like him a lot, but Carrey is something really special. His films were a huge part of my childhood and I can still go back to them now and have a laugh. And then of course, he also showed he was a top tier dramatic actor as well, with legit classics outside of comedy

Also he's a Cannibal Corpse fan <5>

My ex girlfriend got hit on by Carrey at the Playboy mansion in the 90s but she declined.

Carrey is way more talented and multifaceted as an actor and entertainer. Not even close really. Eddie Murphy’s standup was awesome, but that’s the only thing where he surpasses Carrey. They are different though, but if the question refers to comedic acting, it’s Carrey by far.

Hard choice. I went with Eddie. Carrey has some absolute classics but a lot of his stuff is just a little too over the top silly for me.

Yea, agreed. I can watch loads of Eddie's stuff but Carrey just begins to grate on me when he goes over the top.

Carrey has more longevity and a better overall body of work, but I vote Eddie for how he handled Rick James disrespecting his couch.

Also, Carrey gave his ex-girlfriend herpes and prescription drugs that enabled her suicide.

This is a tough one. I would have said Jim Carey a while back. But I can’t think of anything he’s done recently that I really liked.

But I just watched the new Beverly Hills Cop movie that Eddie Murphy made and thought it was really good. Maybe my expectations were just low, IDK. But I really liked it.

I can’t say I care for a lot of the movies he’s made in the recent past though. It’s mostly kids’ stuff.

Jim Carrey, but I don't like either of their comedic styles for the most part.

I grew up during peak Jim Carrey, I still quote things to this day from most of his work. While I like Eddie Murphy alot, it would take alot to unseat Jim Carrey for me.

Eddie Murphy best body of work was in the '80s and early '90s. His peak movies are better than Jim Carrey's in my opinion. Stellar supporting voice acting for Mulan and Shrek later on. I think halfway through the 90s Eddie became less interested in his career.

Jim Carrey's overall movie resume on average is a lot better imo. I'm not the biggest Carrey fan. Bruce Almighty, the mask, dumb and dumber and Ace Ventura all bangers

Jim Carrey overall. He has more films that I like. Dumb & Dumber is a legitimate masterpiece.

Honestly Carrey's early blockbusters have not held up very well for me at all compared to Murphy's, this would come down more to Murphy's blockbusters vs Carrey's more serious stuff like Truman Show and Spotless Mind.

Carrey wins via The Mask alone for me.
