Liquor stores? No. but Bars and businesses that provide alcohol can and do get sued. Its actually illegal to get someone that drunk.

If I got loaded at your bar and then got fucked up because I was too drunk to walk home, I could sue the bar for not providing me a way home(Calling me a cab), or anything else that happened while i was intoxicated.

That's why you need a liquor license to serve liquor.

All depends on the state you are in. Its called Dram shop law.
