News Jeremy Stephens has parted ways with the UFC after finishing his contract

Stephens is a lifelong disciple of the JBG and a true fighter. Textbook definition of a gatekeeper imo. Good enough to fringe the top 10, maybe even get in once or twice, but ultimately stays in that 10-15 spot and serves as the name implies, a gate to the upper echelon.

Fucking warrior with some of the nastiest KOs ever seen at the weight class. His uppercut of RDA is only rivaled by Francis/Reem and Dos Santos/Werdum! Should probably put BB/Blaydes in here too, that was savage.

key wins over the likes of Rafael dos Anjos, Gilbert Melendez, Renan Barao, Cole Miller, Darren Elkins and Marcus Davis
At first I was like dang he had some nice wins! then they threw in Cole Miller and Marcus Davis.

Bare Knuckle is what he should do, he's someone you think of as being made for that.

Jeremy "Whiff" Stephens. Had some good fights against high-level talent for sure. Then he'd get schooled, kinda like Ronda charging Holly. Seemed like more of a complete fighter in the old days. I do wonder if it was his choice or not?

Damn. And to think 600 fighters, most the best in the world are fighting for the "Underpaid Fighting Championship".

It's like they couldn't go anywhere else. Madness.
They are all taking a gamble that they'll be the next well paid champion and are too competitive to realize how unlikely and possibly detrimental to their career that that is.
Still it'd be a hard sell to tell a fighter to not take the "opportunity" when the UFC comes knocking.
Plus most other orgs just don't have the money to pay well even if their proportion of revenue share is much better.

"Jeremy Stephens is no longer part of the UFC roster, multiple people with knowledge of the situation told MMA Fighting. “Lil’ Heathen” completed his contract this past July and ultimately did not re-sign with the promotion."

"The 16-year veteran, who turns 36 in May, competed as a featherweight and lightweight during his long UFC career, scoring key wins over the likes of Rafael dos Anjos, Gilbert Melendez, Renan Barao, Cole Miller, Darren Elkins and Marcus Davis."

He is exciting to watch but loses too much
