Jed Meshew scored 4 10-8 Rounds in Royval - Taira!!!

Lmao I know he’s just a “journalist” but is this guy serious?

He has been pretty public about how he tries hard to be a special boy and I find he doesn't really care about a lot of shit someone in MMA journalism should care about. He's like a hardcore casual with a blog that gets published in one of the most popular MMA news sites for some reason.

If the guy is basically admitting he's not judging fights by any criteria but his own, then he frankly shouldn't be included in the Media members on MMADecisions, cuz it would imply he's part of the curve, instead of some outlier purposefully pulling that curve down

*edit* his score wasn't included there yet, so it simply either it hasn't been submitted to them yet, or better yet, they wisely chose not to include him because of how batshit insane his score would look next to the unanimous others.

I wish fights were scored that way tbh. All 4 rounds weren't competitive. Taira did well at the end of the 3rd but was hurt multiple times before that.

I scored the 4th a 10-8 as Taira outlanded Royval 3-1 including some nasty gnp, nearly sub'd him, & had 4:30 of control time.

Round 5 I scored a 10-8 as well(for Royval) because Taira got oulanded 57-15, was hurt, nearly sub'd, and overall just got his ass handed to him.

Thanks for explaining your scorecard Jed.

No you don't. It would ruin the sport

I swear, the 10-9 must gets a bad wrap.

It's an effective criteria when applied correctly. I read posters on here proposing to add .5 points, or say they want more 10-10s and 10-8s as a fix for bad decisions.

I don't think they've thought it through

I actually don’t mind 10-10’s but handing out 4 10-8’s in a single fight is absurd.

I'm absolutely opposed to 10-10's creeping into the sport - but there are some rounds here and there throughout history where absolutely nothing happens. Those should be 10-10's, admittedly. Not just generally tight rounds, nah, pick a winner based on the action, but those 'wtf was that'-type rounds: 10-10's are a good idea when there's nothing to judge.

I prefer having more 10-8s round since it helps to separate clear-cut, dominant rounds from ones that are razor-thin.

When the damage criteria change happened they also made a change regarding how 10-8s are given out, making them a bit more common. It led to some draws in some prelims here and there, but for the most part it didn't seem like a bad change. 4 10-8 rounds seems excessive, but I'd rather have that than a 10-9 for a round in which one guy got his ass kicked and nearly subbed, or a 10-9 for a round where there was only ever offense from one side while the other was forced to defend for nearly 5 minutes.

There were multiple 10-8 rounds in that fight.

It's crazier that no judge gave a single 10-8 round

And 10-10 rounds should be a thing. I like this guys judging tbh.

Just give fighters those smart gloved PFL use, train an AI and let it judge fights.

He's such a joke I made a thread about him years ago.

I watch several podcasts that feature Jed. And no he's not serious. He's joking. Basically, score fights the way he feels MMA juding SHOULD be instead of the way it is. He has alot of hot takes and roasts fighters all the time. He's can be funny at times but you have be fmailar with him to get the joke.

He knows how to be choses to score based on his crietira in protest cause he doesn't agree with current scoring rules. He's half-joking

Adding 0.5s is the same as just doing a 20 point scoring system, if you think about it. The scoring criteria and the judges aren't competent, adding more judges is a better idea than adding more complexity to the scoring and find a way to vet for better judges and don't say "former fighters" a lot of these fighters are the worst possible candidates.
