I never watched SOA but Rip is a bad dude. Just binged the first three seasons and will jump on season 4 today.

Even before the whole show was comical overblown. Ron Perlman alone kept it grounded with his outstanding performance (Titus Welliver also was great) . I just watched it like watching a Seagal movie. Enjoying the trash.
When they outsmarted and outgunned the IRA as some small town hobo bikers with a chip on their shoulders <Lmaoo> I think the funniest thing was a shootout with the Mayans. They set a trap and a lot of guys guys shooting close range at bikers on motorcycles and no one is hit. Worst shooters in tv history <45>
It was kinda funny in all this overblown machismo and trashy performances and dialog (Kurt Sutter the king of over the top drama).
