News James Van Der Beek dead

RIP.

Would much rather we could cure cancer than worry about going to Mars or other bullshit.

So sad - entirely too young and he had a beautiful family.

I'm not going to lie, I watched Dawson's Creek when I was in highschool. It was a guilty pleasure.

RIP James.

RIP Mox. :(

Colon cancer has been increasing at a scary rate. Make sure to get checked up. RIP

Rip

Used to watch Dawson's Creek as a young teen.

I watched it as a teen also. In secret so my friends didn't kick my ass.

I recently decided to redownload it and see if it holds up and it's still pretty damn good. What I didn't realize though is this show heavily promotes adults hooking up with kids. Like there have been at least 5-6 difference instances of adults and kids hooking up. I never realize it as a kid. Also all the kids talk like they have a thesaurus in their pocket at all times.

I need to get a colonoscopy this year. People die early in my family the same way James just did.

RIP.
Everyone should get one.

In fact, I was in the hospital a lot this year, and an emergency doctor recommended I get one (and she wasn't even testing for it). She must have seen something, should have asked her, my bad.

I'm scared of getting one. Not for the actual procedure itself, but for the prep beforehand.

Had a work buddy go through it, so saw first hand what he went through. Stop eating completely 3 days beforehand, stop drinking any liquids 24 hours beforehand.

The night before, he looked like a near -death zombie sucked of life. 😵

I'm not scared, just don't want to do it. I will eventually.

I just got diagnosed last month after noticing blood in my stool in November, and eventually getting a colonoscopy. Fortunately, my case is still early stage and very treatable.

They just lowered the colonoscopy screening age to 45 (It was 50 until recently). I think if you can - you should start getting it earlier - around age 40 or maybe your late 30s.

The colon cancer rate is increasing with every generation. Children today have 500% rate increase:

"Yes, a 2024 analysis of CDC data (1999–2020) revealed that colorectal cancer incidence increased by 500% in children aged 10–14, and by 333% in teens aged 15–19. While these percentages sound alarming, the absolute number of cases remains very low, rising from 0.1 to 0.6 per 100,000 in children.
Key Findings on Rising Rates

  • Children (10-14): 500% increase.
  • Adolescents (15-19): 333% increase.
  • Young Adults (20-24): 185% increase."

I'm scheduled to get one this summer.

I had one five years ago when I was having serious digestive issues. Luckily, they just found a couple of benign polyps.

RIP Van Der Beek.

Why would your friends kick your ass? I was in middle school when the show started and anyone who was anyone worked the world famous Sportatorium in Dallas, Texas was watching Dawson's Creek.
