News James Krause outed as agent of offshore sportsbook - ESPN MMA

I felt it was worth bringing it up because I remember I was thinking two things at the time. Mostly, I thought it was nice of him to take the time to sign autographs and take some pictures. It also crossed my mind that there are some guys like Adam Silver etc.., who probably prefer to do things more behind the scenes.

I was just bustin ya balls sir lol.

I do appreciate the explanation though, I feel like I have a better understanding of you tbh.

Tbh I've always thought sportsbetting was too easy for books to make a consistant profit(there's only 2 variables and you've got a lot of info on both). Certainly the easiest form of legal gambling. To me the biggest question is how many James Krauses are there not just in MMA but the sports world in general? Also the reality is Krause would not have been caught if he didn't offer himself on a silver platter. If these people are more competent finding them might be difficult.

I've been surprised by how unsophisticated all of this is. It's so fucking obvious that it is a conflict to have someone actually involved in the sport betting on it. And for it to be pretty common knowledge. And him to talk about it.

At what point did anyone think this was acceptable?

tons of fighters have always bet on the sport boxing or mma. Shit anik used to talk betting on touching gloves before the fight years before ufc had gambling sponsors.

It's amazing how quickly this all unravelled.

You can imagine the panic in the UFC HQ when they drafted that quick "actually, you shouldn't be gambling" missive they sent out.

That was before the Minner shit.

I was one of the few people that seemed to have a problem with the way he cornered Mana Martinez, but soon after, the shit really hit the fan.
What fight was this?

The shady cornering.

This one.

Context: This fight is taking place in the Apex. There's no crowd. It's quiet. The judges are cage side (which is silly, considering), and Krause starts yelling as loud as he can that Mana is losing rounds. Mana has just beaten Brandon Davis in both of the first two rounds, pretty clearly, and in the minds of pretty much everyone (http://www.mmadecisions.com/decision/13540/Mana-Martinez-vs-Brandon-Davis).

This gets lauded as 'strong advice' and 'good cornering' from Krause, but stunk of Krause trying to influence the judges against his own fighter to me.

Mana then loses round three, suggesting this is probably the worst piece of motivation in UFC history. He went from cruising to a decision, to scraping by.

Utter bullshit, IMO. There was zero need for Krause to come out guns blazing with bad advice about losing rounds, but something obviously had Krause extremely stressed.

Martinez legit looks consigned to losing at the end, despite the fact it's the easiest 29-28 you could render.

He's fucked. He worked as the middle-man from bettors to the betting website/company. Offered to make bets on fights for people if they gave him control of their accounts for a profit and even bet on fights with fighters he coached. Boasted about his profits in interviews. Spoke about betting on almost every fight on every card. Worked to circumvent betting caps on fights.

<seedat>
What crime can they actually charge him with?

Fraud, wire fraud, moving funds internationally, and blabbling all over social media about it all. Dumb.

Dude clearly never worked in the drug biz, keep your mouth shut and don't flaunt, rule #1b, right beside don't get high on your own supply... I knew 16 year old kids smarter than this back in the day lol.

Damn! That’s really bad…probably. I actually have no idea.
