2 points would result in too many cancelations in my opinion.

1 point would mean that if the overweight fighter wins 29-28, then it would be a draw. I personally find that to be fair but I know how much Vegas hates draws.

.5 point is arguably too small to matter as it would only matter in the case of a draw (unless I am missing something) which are pretty rare. But I guess a draw changing to a win for the guy who made weight does sound fair.

Fair. 2 points is too crazy

Also, it's clear to me the TikToker jabroni is the cause of this.

That is where things get tricky.

I would personally trade the fine for the point or half point. I just think the "punishment fits the crime" better as this would at least attempt to offset the competitive advantage, which the fine does not do.
imo, the point thing is almost as saying the guy cant win and at best he doesnt get an L but still has to compete, what about a rehydration clause in the event of a fighter missing weight? i think they made it for Rumble when he fought Vitor at MW, considering its basically a new fight and negotiation when a fighter misses weight that wont be as difficult to enforce, they can still get a win, but they wont come in with the full advantage of trying to cut like crazy and not making weight.

The reality is 20% is nothing and in many cases, worth the competitive advantage. These guys only get paid half their purse with a loss in most contracts, if you're big for the division ironically its a smart move to occasionally miss weight. You need a sliding scale with much more serious fines:

30% - 1lbs
40% - 2lbs
50% - 3lbs
>3lbs fight is cancelled

As a fighter I would be pissed.
20% is not much if you lose because of it. Your stock over time drops more than 20%.
You might get cut, you might miss a 50% increase, you might miss a 50k bonus, which for some fighters is like 100% increase
Dan Hooker is 2-4, 2-5 is a problem. Don't really like him, but still.

Think a lot of you are over reacting for his first weight miss? Yeah he's tall, but he's been regularly making the weight

Hooker could have had Tony Ferguson, even with Turner missing weight I don’t want to hear him complain if he loses.

For Rumble and Vitor, Rumble had to do a weigh in on fight day and I think he couldn't be over 205. Vitor is a champ for taking that fight at all considering Rumble was 197 for a fight booked for 85.

A fighter could still win with a point deduction or a half point deduction, but they would need to either win 3 rounds or get a 10-8, or finish.

The objective I am attempting to address is the unfair advantage. This is tricky to do for 2 primary reasons,
1) If the penalty is too much fighters will just pull out of fights, which doesn't make things better.
2) we are limited to things that a commission might actually implement, so fun ideas like "1 kick in the balls during the in cage fight announcement for each pound over" or "overweight fighter has to do 1 minute of physically draining cardio exercise right before the fight per pound over" would never happen.

I doubt anything will ever change from the current system, it just sucks that fighters are seemingly intentionally gaming the system by buying a significant advantage by choosing not to cut the last few pounds.

In the long run, too much penalties would benefit who wants to get their money clean. In the beginning I agree, but in the long run fighters would lose so much they would start to adapt to make it right at all times. That's pretty simple, you get money from their pockets and deduct a point in their fights and they'll start to bark like a trained dog. All harsh changes are like that in the beginning until they start to adapt. After all, they need to be professionals, without being professional you won't get any money or even fights whatsoever.

deserved. dont make up shit without evidence and ruin peoples careers
I don't think so my man, I think Hooker was being pretty honest. I really think Islam is an IV abuser not from today.

Atleast the fight is still on. Watching everyones favorite can Dan Hooker get smashed is one of my main reasons to watch this card. Once he's 22-13 can we please cut this bum? Dude clearly doesn't belong.

cool. I'm still waiting for the evidence from a credible source
I also agree with you about that. My opinion on Hooker being honest is just I feeling I have, won't deny.

my feelings tell me they're all on something. its ok for us the fans to believe that but when fighters start accusing each others
thats not good.
