I have absolutely fucking zero confidence in Ben in repping MMA here.

Not only is he one of the worst boxers in the history of MMA, he has retired and has had a hip replacement since.

The ONLY route to victory for Askren is to shell up and hope Paul gases badly. Then and only then, could Ben’s feminine wrist flicks have any noticeable effect. I don’t see it, Ben has terrible standup D to boot.
 
y'all giving jake too much credit... just remember ben ate lawlers punches and elbows and didn't get ko'd.
 
Ben's faced some decent strikers before. I hope he is able to get Jake tired and win a decision. I think Jake will try and ko him early and will tire if he can't. Would be hilarious.

Does he even have a great reputation post UFC? I'm sure he's doing this for money, which I have to assume must be a decent sum.

in the interview with Ariel, Askren actually said that he is getting paid a lot more for this fight than he was paid for any of his MMA fights

I think it should have been stopped early when Robbie was pummeling him but that said I watched the fight live and also thought Robbie went limp.

Being able to get his with about him, stand back up, walk Lawler down, take him down with ease, and pull off the sub(regardless of what you think of it) certainly can't be luck.

Turns out it was the right call, so I'm not sure I'd call it lucky. Any more than us now knowing he survives that onslaught would make it an unlucky call if it had been stopped.

Askren never should have come back to MMA without getting his hip replacement first anyway. You're not wrong in that most never would have complained (probably not even Ben) had it been stopped.
 
So are they going to run with the narrative of "MMA's worst boxer vs Jake Paul"?

Apparent cash grab for Ben because this is just silly. The circus aspect being Ben Askren in a boxing ring.
 
Ben with the power suplex for the DQ because he doesn’t give a shit. He just wants to rag doll him. Fuck it.
