News Jake Paul retires from boxing (or is calling out a retired boxer)

He probably should retire. We saw him take damage for the first time. On top of that, he probably has taken damage in sparring. He should have made a good chunk of money, enough to retire and move onto less damaging things.

I took it as a joke about how boxers tend to retire multiple times before they call it quits for real.

Wtf.

I thought he was in this for years and wanted to be a champion and yada yada.

So all his talk and fighting back against all that really was BS.
Fraud.

I get that the guy is an unlikable douche, but he's made multi-millions in several different fields of endeavor. He's no dummy, and he's got all kinds of hustle.

I suspect he's simply creating drama, as he seems to have created enough demand at least one more big fight. But I do think he got exposed a little by Woodley. He's been cherry-picking old, washed up MMA wrestlers, and he almost got put on his ass for it. Now it's pretty clear just how mediocre his boxing is.

I think he realized he isn't as good as he thought he was. Not hating on Jake at all, but his team are "yes men" and, combined with his success against low level opponents, he started to believe his own hype. He managed to scrape a decision against on old, shot, 4-fight losing streak, not-even-a-boxer Woodley but couldn't even finish him, and now he's starting to see that he doesn't have that much knockout power. Best to retire now because honestly this is his ceiling in boxing. Any step up in competition here would go poorly for him (Masvidal, any real pro boxer, Anderson) and fighting other amateurs and Youtubers wouldn't draw interest now that he has W's against two UFC fighters.
