PFL Jake Paul leaving PFL

Going to PFL and making UFC money is better than going to LFA for a few hundred dollars. Plus if you excel in PFL, the UFC will make a move for you once your deal is up.

Are you making UFC money in the PFL without winning the tourney prize which doesn't exist anymore?

Probably. Look at the Brazilian court documents with the conversation between Marcelo Brigadeiro and Mick Maynard. They talk about fighters with multiple fights in the UFC making $20K / $20K. Good chance you can get that in the PFL. Entry level in UFC is $10K / $10K which PFL most likely can pay folks.

ONE has paid foreigners $8K as well for their first fight and then $10K for their second fight. Close to UFC entry level money, but obviously kind of difficult to stay active.

yeah of course. thats why people go to PFL in the first place. it's obviously a place where you can make a living, not everyone in PFL wins the tournament. comparing it to LFA is crazy, quite frankly.

what exactly is UFC money? the scale is pretty wide. clay collard obviously makes more money in the PFL than he would if he was in the UFC, and he hasnt won any tournaments.

I'm fully aware that ACA exist. Of all of the fighters you pointed out, only one or two competed in ACA and none of them were known for competing there. What's your point?
Pfl roster is a bunch of Russians? Pretty sure my point was very obvious.

The follow-up would be americans don't care for a roster of all Russian fighters with similar names. PFL was supposed to compete with UFC for the title of Major League MMA org and it failed hard. It's just another minor league now, and will be lucky to survive another year or two.

Knighthead Capital owns sports teams so know what needs to be done. Looking better for PFL just need ESPN to re-sign them.

I didn't hate the Jake Paul signing when they did it.

Those are the kind of signings a PFL needs to get attention to their product. I don't know what happen behinds the scenes that absolutely zero came from it. The reality is signing and getting Jake Paul to fight would bring more eyes to the PFL than if the PFL some how signed Paddy level fighter away from the UFC a year or two ago. You could argue Jake actually fighting probably would've out done what Francis's one fight with the PFL did.

Reality is the Jake signing or Francis has very little to do with where the PFL finds itself today.

Indeed, they didn't really lose anything by signing Jake Paul. If Paul had fought, it would have been a big gain for them.

Perhaps if Paul didn't get the Netflix deals he would have eventually fought for PFL.

Yeah, same as when they signed Patrice Evra. That’s another signing that unfortunately hasn’t panned out. I wish someone would ask them at a press conference what the status of him is as he was signed to compete at one of the PFL Europe events in France, but the event didn’t happen and no further mentions of Evra competing for them has ever been brought up again.

The Jake Paul era in Professional Fighters League proved to be uneventful, to say the least.

According to a report from Yahoo! Sports, Paul is no longer part of the PFL roster and his affiliation with the company — both as a fighter and for business purposes — has come to an end after approximately three years. Sherdog.com subsequently confirmed the news with a source close to the situation. It doesn’t appear that Paul was released; instead, his contract with the PFL simply reached its conclusion.

At the beginning of 2023, it was announced that the Youtube personality turned boxer signed with the PFL under the auspices that he would eventually compete in mixed martial arts. Paul also bought in as a minority owner and was initially expected to help launch PFL’s pay-per-view super fights division. He also given the title of “Head of Fighter Advocacy.”

“I’ve proven myself in and out of the boxing ring and now I am going to do the same in MMA, and there is no limit to the positive impact I can make on the sport. I plan to enter the PFL SmartCage and once again show the world that that anything is possible with hard work and dedication,” Paul said in a 2023 release.

“Outside of the cage, equal fighter-pay and advocating for female fighters has been my passion, and I am aligned with PFL to evolve the sport,” Paul added. “I believe in PFL, their mission, and what they have accomplished in a very short period of time. That is why I chose to partner with PFL exclusively, both as a fighter and a businessperson. As Head of Fighter Advocacy, I will consistently promote PFL fighters and I invite all top MMA fighters, both men and women, to join the PFL and get a payday like they’ve never had before.”

Broken Promises

Over the course of his three-year affiliation with the PFL, Paul fought eight times in the boxing ring, but he never came close to competing in MMA. In late 2023, Most Valuable Promotions announced that Paul had reached an agreement to face Nate Diaz in an MMA bout under the PFL banner, but that fight never came to fruition.

Paul is coming off a sixth-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua in a boxing match on Netflix. He is currently recovering from a broken jaw suffered in the defeat.

Jake Paul and PFL have officially parted ways following the expiration of his three-year contract. The partnership, initiated in 2023 ended beginning of 2026.
