A revelation had been bestowed upon me by the JBG. He spoke unto me that Jailton Almeida has superior speed to all current top 10 HW. He is a TD threat to all top HW currently..Jailton has a killer instinct when he gets s TD reminiscent of prime Jones. He is a lifelong trained boxer that rarely has to use his hands creating a nightmare to analyze. The train has arrived. All aboard for the future champion.His name is JAILTON ALMEIDA

I'm not sold on his striking. People are jumping to way too many conclusions based on him having been a boxer as a kid before transitioning to BJJ/MMA. It doesn't mean he secretly has elite hands. In fact I would argue that what little we've seen of his stand-up should give us reason to worry if his takedowns ever get stifled by a competent Heavyweight striker.

Don't get me wrong. I love Jailton. I think he's a fantastic up-and-comer and a breath of fresh air (though his ceiling was arguably higher at 205 as I've said many times). I hope to see good things from him. However, he has a several legitimately tough stylistic match-ups at Heavyweight.

yeah i don't trust his striking either because if his hands were good as some think he'd have stuck with boxing instead of switching to grappling, or you'd see his striking influence his styyle more than it has.

For sure, but I'm talking about technically. He seems to load up and throw things with a lot of heat to create car crashes and seems to like recycling some of the same old setups over and over. That can work fine because of the threat of the takedown, but if that were removed I'm just not convinced he would look good against a lot of guys. I'm not saying he'd be a Ben Askren per se, but what I've seen from him suggests his stand-up is... a bit unrefined in the grand scheme of things.
