"I want to put this in no uncertain terms: Manny Pacquiao is the fighter who should be remembered as defining this generation of boxers.

Yes, he's lost a couple recently, and no, he's not undefeated. His incredible winning streak beginning in 2005 was broken, but you have to pick your fights really carefully if you want to stay undefeated forever (and use that fact alone to sell tickets to fights).

No, I hope that Manny Pacquiao will be remembered for the paradigm shift in strategy and technique which he brought to the boxing world. There has never been a southpaw as adept in the use of angles to create punching opportunities as Pacquiao. There might not have been any boxer to date with the same understanding and discipline in footwork

Sounds like the writer has never heard of Pernell Whitaker.

There will be people here who will get offended at someone holding Pac in such high regard. Don't listen to it. That's a pretty nice article.

Sounds like the typical over enthusiastic Pac fanboy trying to point out things everyone knows.

Manny Pacquiao is just one fighter who "defines" this generation of boxers.

Case in point. ^

Do you ever post anything of any relevance or do you just come here to see who is saying what about Pac and letting people know if you approve or not?

Thats the other thing. Pac cherry picks. Most definitely. The top fighters all cherry pick. They ALL cherry pick the best payday for them. Pac isn't fighting guys with no name coming up the ranks. He fights guys who will be a good B side on a PPV.

I just enjoy seeing how easily you get upset when anybody praises Pac.

Doesn't upset me at all. What upsets me is when people shit on another fighter and pretend they are simply "praising" Manny.

I'm a Pac fan. I buy his PPVs. I've been watching and looking forward to his fights for years.

I just don't see him as some flawless divine entity the way that you do.

Seano, you know I love ya but this topic does get you unraveled...to the point where you accuse myself, Slimp and others for "$hitting" on Bradley when we have dont anything but.

I'm a fan of Bradley, have always admired his skill, ever since he got laid out by Brook and was able to get up and recover from that.

I just happen to be a bigger fan of Pac...I can praise Pac, and Bradley Simultaneously.

That was Brook that laid him out. Bradley laid out Alexander with his head.

Yep and it doesn't bother me at all. Its the name of the game.

Is fighting Oscar at 147 when Oscar hadn't faught there in a decade not stacking the deck, or weight draining cotto, clotetty, or picking Brandon Rios after the ko?

Pac is a good sometimes great fighter, but people only love him because he isn't mayweather and he just so happens to win.

Jacks article is biased under the glow of praise.

Cheers for posting guys.

My intention wasn't to gloss over anyone cherry picking anyone else. It's boxing - everyone takes the matches they feel most favourable and avoids others.

A boxer of his caliber has every right to seek out the most notable boxers to fight. What does he gain by fighting a no-name coming up in the ranks? If he loses, his image is destroyed. If he wins, the world says 'of course he won. he's Manny and that guy's a no-name.' Plus, Pac wants his opponent to bring something to table in terms of attracting PPV buys. He has fought the proven best in boxing.

I don't get what some fight fans want out of these athletes.

Don't get me wrong. Like Thugpoet said, it doesn't really bother me so long as the matchups are quality and in the case of Floyd and Pac, the biggest sellers in the sport, they USUALLY are. But they do cherry pick.

u do seem to bash pac quite a bit. which is a little strange

Next time you label something as "must read," it should maybe actually be must read. That was a fluff piece from a Pacquiao fan. More well written than some - though it's still nothing special - but a fluff piece all the same.

Fluff pieces are only must read when they're hilariously bad.
