Just re-watched there first fight, wow that was close (and entertaining) but I can see why the judges sided with Rockhold.
Luke showed more control in the stand up, and although Jacare effectively countered it wasn't enough to slow Rockhold down or sway the judges. Jacare was definitively hitting harder (as it showed on Lukes face), it's to bad he wasn't able to string together some better combinations.
I give Jacare the nod in the wrestling/grappling area of the fight as he did land some good takedowns, however since he was unable to do much with them the judges may not have seen this as a relevant factor.
Both men showed great cardio and heart, but I think Lukes kicks, and Jacares over commitment to power punches in the earlier frame slowed him down a bit.
IMO, Luke had more tools and an overall better game plan. Also I think Jacare got a little over excited in the first round when he wobbled Luke, and may have had a mild adrenaline dump as he chased for the ko.
Can't wait to see the rematch (I'm pretty sure Luke will beat Bisbing) I expect Luke will employ close to the same game plan he had in their first encounter, as it seems to be his bread and butter, and also very effective. IMO this fight will come down to how much Jacare has improved since there first fight. If he can be a little more defensive on the feet, and still counter effectively, while using his striking more to set up takedowns, Jacare can pull this off. That being said Luke is no pushover, his kicks are as brutal as ever, that combined with his size advantage could make this rematch a reenactment of their first encounter.
What say you sherdog
