Jacar

This is a silly mentality. If Rockhold fought Camozzi as his first fight in the UFC, he'd be undefeated in the Octagon too.

silly mentality is thinking a loss can be forgotten so you fighter stays ahead.

Jacare was the #1 contender. This is a fact.
He was supposed to fight a tough opponent.
The fact he got sick and Camozzi replaced him should not count as much as Luke losing to Vitor.

A win against an easier opponent is still better than a loss to ANY opponent.

Give it to Jacare. He's almost (already) an old man in fighting terms.

If we wait too long he's too old to trouble Weidman & Chris will have a defense list of fights versus only the elderly.

Rockhold can be early 2016 when he is still young & in his prime. He can rematch Belfort in late 2015.

This is where we firmly disagree.
Just to give you an example: JDS losing a title shot rencently still puts him ahead of anybody else, not named Cain, at HW. By your definition, Werdum should be ranked ahead of him for beating a mess of guys not named JDS or Cain.

Beating a lesser opponent just keeps you where you were.

This literally makes no sense.

it would if you stopped to think about it.

But I'll explain:
Vitor & Jacare = two Brazilians. This could fill a stadium in Brazil.
Weidman & Luke = MSG. Can be a HUGE main event, at their first MSG show (if MMA is allowed in NY).

and this is where you are wrong.

To prove my point: If according to you, by losing to top opponents I'd gain points, then if I fight all top 10 fighters and lost to them all, I should become higher ranked than anyone that fought non-top 10 opponents and won all their fights? (see how your logic can't work?)

Any loss should make you lose points.
Any wins should make you win points.
I never said Jacare should receive as many points as if he'd beat Machida, but he should move forward also.

And just because it is Vitor, a loss to him should still count against Luke. A loss is a loss.

The problem with this theory is that you can crush cans all day long and, by your exact explanation, become the highest ranked fighter in the division.

yes. But you would obviously run out of cans, wouldn't you?
As you progress, you fight better opponents, and that porpels you higher.

That's besides the point that losing to a can propels you further down than losing to a top 10.
But BOTH losses should send you down the rankings. Same as Both wins (against top 10 or cans) should propel you up.

no it does not.
The fact that Luke lost to Vitor while Jacare kept winning should determine Jacare is ahead of Luke.

I agree Machida's win is better than Chris, but that's not Jacare's fault.

Eh, I don't agree. Your av is tops though.

Well see, nobody is going to take you seriously with that kind of system.

don't be mad because I proved you wrong. Just because you are wrong doesn't make you a bad person.
Admitting it is already a great step in the right direction.
