The suspects grandfather spoke with NBC and told them that he had recently spoken with the FBI and declined to comment further.

Seems like a safe bet that he snitched.

Eerily similar to the Kirk shooting. FBI messing up the investigation until getting bailed out my family turning them in

I wonder why now and not 5 years ago. Maybe the kid recently said something suspicious, or that prize money boost did it and grandpa like "eh, I've got others"

I saw a couple posts on Twitter that they may have already had evidence related to purchases of various bomb making things at a home depot(s). Just they weren’t readily investigated or acted upon. Something like that.

Of course that was just twitter, so take with a grain of salt. Hopefully the presser soon is informative and doesn’t leave even more questions and what not.

Similar to the guy who murdered those two girls in Delphi, IN. It took 5 years to solve that case and it was only because new detectives reviewed the evidence and saw that the guy who was eventually convicted of the girls' murder, Richard Allen, had reached out to police and volunteered information that he was on the trail that day and was wearing the same kind of clothes that the "Bridge Guy" suspect was wearing. For some unknown reason, that was never followed up on and the family had to suffer for 5 years before getting justice.

Looks like Patel's FBI took a fresh look at this and managed to solve it.
