Lol @Poirierfan let's get real, YT views aren't the only factor. Everyone knows Strickland gives entertaining interviews, it's the only area he can beat Adesanya. Doesn't translate to stardom though.

You want to really see who the star is? Imagine Adesanya had to drop out of the fight & Cannonier actually stepped in as the backup, let's say it became an interim title fight vs Strickland. This card would sink like a ship and everyone knows it. :D

There are a few issues here I could see resulting in less than stellar PPV #s.

1) no support from the rest of the card.

This is BIG. USA drives PPV sales and there are no major names besides the headliner to encourage whoever the fuck actually pays for PPVs to shell out $85 for this fucking card. It's a whole bunch of CKB fighters, Aussies, Kiwis... ie people the "casuals" don't give a fuck about.

Izzy is a draw. He is not a sell the entire card by himself draw. Even guys like Jon Jones had 300k PPVs against weak dance partners or with overall weak cards. Only Conor and GSP could support a card by themselves, and even GSP I think usually had help.


2) No one believes Sean has any sort of reasonable chance of winning. He is a one trick pony fighting a bigger faster fighter who does his one trick better and has a whole ass magic show of tricks that Strickland doesn't have.

So forget about any huge boom from the "turn in to see Izzy lose" contingency. They will wait for Alex 3/5 or DDP.

3) The last few cards were bangers and recent. People who shelled out money for that BMF card and the OMalley coronation are unlikely to be impressed by this card enough to dig into their pocket a 3rd time in 6 weeks. Even some of the recent fight night cards have been as strong as this PPV or close at least and they didn't cost $85.

4) The card just ain't worth the money.
Period.

if suga sean was vocal about lgbtq abortion , fighter pay, or an activist promoting free college/ climate change and world peace something tells me
he would get the <31>treatment and get fed to merab.
