A new contract supercedes an old one. That’s the way they work when you renegotiate contracts. You can still have a year or two on your existing contract in regular sports. But the team wants to lock you up for say the next 5 years. They offer you a contract usually with a healthy raise depending on your importance to the team.

So if you re-sign at that point. Your new salary will start the next year. Or possibly the second you sign that contract, if it’s mid-season. But this is all completely normal in sports. The fact Izzy re-signed proves he was at the very least agreeable to the conditions.

Not too many people are sympathetic with this U Fight Cheap bullshit when talking about multi-million$ contracts these guys willingly signed. If Izzy is ok with the terms. Who are you to do his talking for him?

Its probably very rare, but there may be a select few who are good with hand shake/phone call deals. If you have a history of not breaking them, why not just sign it when ur there.. esp now with travel still a bit tougher than normal

The funny part is.. As ridiculous as that sounds that literally could be covered by his new contract. We don’t know the terms. Only that Izzy was happy enough with it to re-sign.
