So, there's been a few threads around saying what you believe was Nate's best line during the build up of the fight.
The one I find most interesting is when Nate said Conor doesn't truly believe his own predictions. He said "you don't even believe your own predictions, but your opponents did". After the fight, that line became very interesting to me.
Nate didn't mentally break like Conor's previous opponents because Nate is all about mental warfare, too, and at some points, he really got under Conor's skin like nobody else has with his words.
We all know how Conor mentally beats his opponents, but he couldn't mentally break Nate and that a bit of a difference IMO. A lot of Conor's opponents went into the fight completely broken down mentally and I believe some were actually a little scared. Kind of how Anderson Silva's opponents used to fight him. Chael said his previous opponents were scared of him, but if you go in and believe in yourself and you aren't afraid of him, you can beat him.
Nate talked about how Conor 'already won' those other fights (RDA, Cerrone, etc) because of the press conference (Go Big press conf?) and then said how Conor doesn't even believe his own predictions, but his opponents did.
Nate didn't believe it and didn't fight scared like Conor's previous opponents. He wasn't broken down mentally.
Not that Conor only wins by breaking his opponent mentally. He can still beat you, truly, Conor wins because of his actual fighting ability but the mental warfare does help. It can be a big factor sometimes, but the way Nate took Conor's shots and taunted him, that's the most effective mental warfare because it really fucks with your head.
Nobody could take Conor's shots, but when Nate took them perfectly fine, it must have made Conor a little bit nervous.
