Great promo for the IMO upcoming Conor vs Nick bout yesterday , placing Conor as a bully and Nick having to rescue his little bro , makes a nice set up for when Nate gets his ass kicked tomorrow { and he will }. Coincidence that Conor picks Nate when Nick is coming off a suspension ? What a stroke of luck for the UFC that RDA was hurt and BOOM they replace him with Nate Diaz of all the fighters available { Diaz Bros have a huge fan base of course } whose brother Nick will be available to fight soon < if your following you guessed it right after UFC 200 !
When Conor defeats Nate this sets up the Robbie Lawler title match at UFC 200 however if for some odd reason Conor loses than no biggie really the huge showdown with RDA is still available or even a title defense against Jose Aldo/Frankie Edgar right ? There is 0 at stake in the Nate Diaz match for Conor and poor Nate even if he should win will fall victim to the Edgar syndrome .
If your like me you probably wondered why it appeared the UFC was not choosing your favorite fighter for a title match when they surely earned one { Edgar is a good example } but the UFC is not looking for true MMA champions it is looking for "marketable" personalities it can match up in huge PPV bouts . Luckily for the UFC some fighters are both skilled and marketable .
While I am sure most bouts are predetermined based on PPV buys and not merit I still think the outcomes are genuine so until I find they are fixed I may keep watching.
