Grappling is being rendered obsolete by superior TDD.He also forgot you can grapple.
In 5-10 years, fighters who are primarily grapplers and wrestlers wont be in the top 10 in any division.

It's not cyclical. Ultimately, the set of possibilities in MMA is finite and the set of movements and effective fighting techniques is finite. TDD is simply too easy to learn and too effective. As MMA gets more popular and more natural athletes and natural strikers with power practice it, higher levels of wrestling defense are going to be more common and strikers will maximize the ability to stand and keep striking, which ultimately is physically superior to grappling as a martial art. Offensive grappling is inferior as a martial style compared to offensive striking with even just decent defensive wrestling and TDD.Until someone changes that momentum with superior skills again. Has happened many times in the past and will happen many times in the future. Nothing is written in stone.
It was an errant comma. TypoIt didn't show in your last comment
This will really bother ppl a lot... But I enjoyed reading it personally lolIt's not cyclical. Grapplers/wrestlers did well in the early days of MMA because strikers didn't know the gameplan. Now strikers are learning to defend takedowns and get up off the ground when taken there and from here, superior striking ability and natural power will overwhelm natural grappling ability and training, because heavy blows are superior weapons for putting down an opponent vs trying to take him down and trying to submit him.
Jose aldo, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Stipe, Holloway, McGregor, and many other men who are considered the GOATs of their division are primarily strikers who use wrestling defensively. This will only become more common and the overall meta of MMA will solidify, especially as natural hard hitters with real punching power begin to practice MMA over boxing as the sport of choice.
Deontay Wilder with 1 year of TDD sleeps every single MW, LHW and HW fighter in one round. Once MMA starts cutting boxing level checks, men like Wilder will begin to come to the UFC and MMA and dominate everyone.
He did the same to Paulo, you will see, you can't fight Romero and not come out of it damaged for life.
