It's interesting how MMA is the only combat sport where guys move down a weight class.

In all other combat sports, most competitors move up weight classes as they get older. In MMA, guys move down.

See:
-BJ Penn
-Kenny Florian
-Vitor Belfort
-Machida
-Rashad Evans

Yeah once you start losing in MMA your too old,fat and in the wrong weight class.

Conor didn't move down a weight class, he made his UFC debut at 145lbs.

He might make a huge weight cut but he didn't move down a weight class.
Well you said MMA, not UFC. Didn't Conor get choked out at 155 by Duffy and then decided to cut an insane amount of weight to fight at 145?

Machida fought at LHW because of Anderson
BJ did a bunch of crazy stuff in his younger years
Ken Flo also was kind of seeking his natural weight class plus after 155 its a jump to 170, he also lost to the champs so had to kind of make a move
Vitor started as like a heavyweight and at LHW hes undersized massively, 185 is probably more natural
Rashad just trying to be competitive somewhere but he def wasnt a HW

Plus I bet you only thought about striking oriented combat sports when u made this thread, boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, and all of those.
Strength matters more in MMA
Since wrestling doesnt exist that late into careers, I think in Jiu Jitsu it would b much more common for people to move up but at the same time Im not really sure they cut to begin with

Yeah, Conor never fought at 155 before.

I swear you guys don't know shit about the dude you jack off to.

In most combat sports people move down in weight until the weight cut starts doing more harm than good. It is not exclusive to MMA. Everyone I knew in my two sports except for heavy weights cut weight. Some found they went down to far then went back up one weight class.

This happens in all sports where a scale is involved.

A fair few guys move up, too.

Alex Oliveira
Rob Whittaker
Ross Pearson has been to 145, but has since returned to 155
Bendo
John Lineker

I didn't say MMA, but it just so happens that every guy that was mentioned in the thread is in the UFC.

Don't be an idiot, I'm not a nuthugger but every guy that was listed in the thread are/were in the UFC when they cut weight.

Just because somebody doesn't agree with you or points out the simple truth it doesn't mean they "jack off" to McGregor.

You sound like your projecting. Fine, I won't say you jack off to Conor. You just want to play touch butt in the park with him.

How am I projecting? You're just spewing your hate everywhere and it's getting kind of old.

Stop crying because you're wrong.

Kenny Florian & Rumble Johnson are really crazy when it comes to moving up/down weight classes.

Alistair Overeem moved up then you have Renan Barao, Rumble Johnson etc.
