It's crazy how both Weidman and Rockhold fell off immediatly after their fight. Who had the worse downfall?

You know you fell off when bisping knocks you out

Uhm

Chris’s last fights were all UFC

Luke is out there getting dental work done at BKFC, losing grappling matches, and just
taking L’s for any org that will pay him

Isn’t that around the same time that Big Rig dramatically fell off? Maybe something to do with weight-manipulation shenanigans that wrestlers use? Very curious.
A lot of guys fell off during that time. It's either IV or they couldn't get extra help. I think someone like RDA also suffered from the weight cuts. He used to be a tank when he trained with a lot with Nick Curson. Other factors could also be aging or injuries. Rashad fell off during that time too but his knees were gone.

Makes sense, thanks 👍

Felt like Luke refused to address his mistakes but Chris got hit by a dump truck.

Tbf i always considered Weidman not that good. Never understood how he beat Machida. If you watch the Anderson fight, he looked like a slower worse exhausted plodding version of Forrest Griffin out there. Anderson had like 50 opportunities to finish him on his telegraphed missed punches but Anderson chose to toy like theres no tmrw and paid the price (deserved). But Weidman looked terrible in many of his fights even before Rockhold…

Machida also fell off the wagon. The UFC had a paradigm shift.

Rogan proclaimed It's the Machida era!
Ended one fight later.

Jon murdered all the post pride eras.

Machida did land that crane kick though.

Who you fight matters.

There isn't a version of Chris Weidman that ever walked the earth that was going to easily beat Yoel Romero. Styles make fights and that was a really difficult matchup.

Rockhold - Romero - Moose in a row is a really difficult strength of schedule. He took unnecessary damage in the fight with Luke, then had neck surgery, and comes right back to fight Romero. That is honestly career mismanagement.

He's been over the hill with a shot body for years, so not much to make of those fights. This is just to explain his 'extremely fast' decline.
The Gastelum fight gave me hope that he could make a return. Thats probably the last time his wrestling was effective. Now when he fights, it’s like he can’t strike or take any one down without it being a life or death struggle.

You noobs forgot that Rockhold got his tooth knocked out by Mike Perry in bareknuckle.
That he had a terrible karate match against Joe Schilling. Schillig was just worse, gassed and got knocked out weirdly.
Then Rockhold lost to Patrick Downey a grappling match, no shame in that though.
Tooth knocked out vs leg break?
Weird but legit win against Schilling vs eye poke win against Bruno Silva?
Loss to Downey vs loss to Anders?

…I think Rockhold takes it here, man.

Luke pretty much always looked really good, he just had a habit of getting finished.

What shocked me was that it wasn’t even an accumulation of strikes. That’s the only time Bisping had shown that level of KO power in his entire career.

It’s the curse of the immediate rematch.

Whenever immediate rematches occur the losers who losses twice never recovers.

In this case an immediate rematch was made even though it didn’t occur due to Weidman getting injured, the booking of this fight altered both their careers into a downfall. The immediate rematch should have never been booked in the first place, Rockhold had Jacare, Gegard, or Yoel as opponents instead he took the easiest bout in Bisping and got wrecked, Weidman might’ve never gotten injured and would have probably fought Bisping as a bounce back kinda bout after losing the title.

Imo that booking of their immediate rematch was the worst thing that happened to both their careers.

I agree. Just wanted to add some missing facts.
There were just too many people talking like Rockhold retired fully in 2022

I can't believe the disrespect Teh Chris is getting in this thread. He's a legend and can surely make one last title run even with this last set back, I want to see Weidman vs Poatan book it Daner
