Itauma vs Usyk

Apparently Itauma's team wants him to get some more rounds in. Franklin may be their next target if it isn't Parker or Kabayel.

"I'd love that as well," Itauma told The Ring. "And even if not Usyk, then the guys that deserve to fight Usyk, so Parker, [Kabayel], whatnot. But I know that my team is stressing me getting rounds, so that's why they said Jermaine Franklin would be a good name."

Moses Itauma 'Would Love' Usyk Fight, Says Team Have Other Ideas First

If they genuinely want rounds why not Joyce? Well, I know why. He might actually fight back.

It would be irresponsible at best to put a 20 year old fighter, who’s never fought past 6 rounds (26 rounds in his whole career), in with arguably the best fighter of this generation. Technically he may be usyks toughest fight at HW. He may be the only fighter with any realistic chance of beating him but he is no where near ready, and still has a couple of big questions that need to be answered before any title shot

Itaumas team need to get him a sturdy test next, and someone who isn’t gonna get instantly blown away. They need to fight hrgovic! Lower top 10, great chin and very consistent with his straight right, which could be a real issue for Itauma being a southpaw. Hes a hard puncher but not a concussive KO puncher. I think he’s the perfect opponent for him, there’s real jeopardy there but his lack of speed and head movement will still favour Moses stylistically. If he runs through hrgovic in a few rounds then he’s ready for one of the real contenders in the division - but not Usyk. He shouldnt be going anywhere near Usyk until we know that he can fight for 10-12 rounds

Hrgovic is upper top 10, and risky so early imo. He is huge, experienced, durable and is a good fighter. Moses needs to fight a solid gate keeper or lower top 10 guy. Parker would be an better fight I think he is a high level gate keeper despite the hype of his current run which is smoke and mirrors mostly. Zhang is the only good win, and he is done now anyway.

Moses was holding his own against Joyce at 15 yrs old which was only 5 years ago there’s little chance Joyce wins that fight , he also would fight a southpaw if he secured a Usyk fight and use it going into that one bc going 1 rnd here isn’t enough he has to make up considerably a good amount of time that Usyks had fighting at top level , I’d try and get a guy like Otto Wallin who is a good mover and decent skilled guy that’s similar to Usyk in terms of movement both like to use in and out punching sequences .

I don't know if he'd win or not, but I know he'd last rounds, which is what they say they want. They likely view him as too dangerous.

I don’t disagree on Parker but I just don’t see why he would fight Itauma next, when he’s about to be given the WBO strap (unless it’s ordered as a mandatory). He’s currently a top 3 HW, where itauma is barely in the top 20. Hrgovic is kind of that step in to the top 10 and becoming a contender

The problem Moses and his team are gonna have is getting guys to sign for the fight. Who really wants to fight him! I think hrgovic is that lower top 10 fighter, I’ve little doubt he’d take the fight but it is risky for Moses!

Itauma is the number 1 with the WBO, he will get a title shot soon if Usyk wants to fight him or not, Usyk will need to vacate, which i believe he will, that will also allow him to avoid fighting Parker, who is the interim champion

i can easily see a fight between Parker and Itauma being made next after that, lot of eyes were on that fight and regardless of the state of Whyte, he did exactly what he should have done, and looked great doing it, didnt get hit, looked fast, sharp and powerful

Well the point to get rounds in is for preparation for Usyk himself not fighting Usyk to get rounds in . I’m not sure if I’m reading this right but Itauma would take the the Usyk fight depending on if he got the right fight beforehand in a next case scenario .

I think fighting the right guy is more important then getting rounds in , one should be looking for a top southpaw so going into a Usyk training camp you are still fighting southpaw’s and training with them you need to be razor sharp against Usyk .

Personally if it was me or my fighter I’d fight Wallin then hire Wallin immediately as a sparring partner keeping him in the circle bc there’s really not many top southpaw’s around that have his experience, I still think it was a mistake for Joshua not doing that when he fought Usyk , Wallin helped him out in the Martin fight etc etc , he’s a useful guy like that and I’d also retain the other southpaw from here Richard Torrez Jr bc he’s very fast and active puncher likes to move around and is about Usyks size you need these types of fighters .

There’s plenty of guys that would give him rounds I think Whyte wanted out of there as soon as he got hit to the body in the rib cage on his left side and mentally folded .

Apparently Dillian was injured💀

stick Joshua in there with him then Eddie

lots of bullshit coming out of the shadows, he was injured, yadda yadda, so let your money spinner fight him then, i would happily see a Joshua - Itauma fight right now

Now that's funny. Sadly, the fight wouldn't be nearly as funny, of course. Joe Joyce stumbling around the ring, haplessly pawing at thin air and taking waaaaay too many shots to the head before the fight is finally called off. I'd feel genuinely depressed watching. That is one fucking terrible style match-up.

Itauma is very good and have tools to be dangerous, but his best chance would be be a quick stoppage and that's unlikely to do to Usyk

The more rounds go on the more Usyk will take timing/distance and school him with skill and experience

Most likely scenario imho is Usyk stops him after some rounds

Not sure besides fight money they do a favor to Itauma giving him such fight now, time is on his side
He can try fight some more former names, get experience and let Usyk get older

Not that a loss to Usyk would be anything to be ashamed of, buy still

It would be a considerable step up from the corpse of Whyte. Yes or no?

This kid has fought a total of 26 rounds in his career and never beaten anyone with a pulse.

he isnt fighting Usyk anytime soon, not only does he know it, his team knows it, Usyk just isnt there to be hit, imagine a 20 year fighter who is blowing away whiffing after 4 rounds hitting fresh air, then the veteran starts to really fight.....David Haye anyone?

his team knows he needs rounds, not a fucking pasting

It's interesting but would be unfortunate for Usyk to have the succeses he's had only to get fed to a succesor. I think he should be allowed time to coax his victories. Also would rather see Moses against somene better. Arslan and Wilder looked great until then. Same with the American guy. Can't have another Joshua either.

Tarver wants to see Itauma fight someone in the Top 10 next and thinks Kabayel would test him. I disagree with the latter. I think that Itauma is all wrong for Kabayel who is focused too much on investing to the body. Meanwhile Itauma would be busy cracking him in the head with fight ending shots.
