It was very clear when McGregor vs Diaz 2 was announced that the UFC was for sale

if the ufc is already sold as reports claim, then that fight has absolutely nothing to do with it.

did you consider that before posting?

They've been talking about selling for quite some time.

They would have made that fight regardless.

What's the difference between a "cash grab" and making a profitable fight? Maybe UFC 100 was a cash grab? UFC 129? Maybe all of them are cash grabs, TS, since you apparently don't differentiate the two.

Considering that TODAY is the day they open the sealed bids - THEY ARE NOT SOLD YET ;)

Yeah not sure what TS is on about...

Diaz/Mcgregor 2 is a big fight. Especially after all the bullshit surrounding it. Starting from when Mcg pulled out of a press conference.

A deal like this takes at least 6 months to negotiate and finalize.
Just paperwork being sent back and forth and lawyers checking everything takes a huge amount of time.

You don't make the Conor Diaz 2 fight if you are interested in UFC long term because it essentially freezes up the FW division making the long term assets of the title less attractive. Also Conor is most definitely going to lose again so you wind up ruining one of your biggest stars from a long term horizon perspective.

It only makes sense if you are interested in maximizing short term gains, like someone with no stake in the future

i get what you're saying - that the ufc is not using mcgregors hype to its fullest, when they could have easily set up an aldo rematch etc. - but i think the ufc is always about making the most money at that second, its nothing new - sometimes i feel they could stretch hype trains out a little longer by not giving people really hard fights, but everyone is thrown to the wolves for the most part, barring maybe a big money fight here and ther - the thought process, i think, seems to be that anyone can lose anytime so might as well make the biggest fight possible at that time

Microsoft bought Linkedin for 26 billion . UFC probably values around 1, not 4. PRIDE was better

4 seems very high to me, but I'm not an investment banker and i have not seen the financials. But based on the reports of UFC dying here on sherdog, 4 billion seems high

I agree with you. basically, they cannot compare to organizations like UEFA to even think of so many zeros. Worst is that ONE FC dies as well :))

Nostradamus-esque is McGangsta in his predicting abilities, Joe.
