Trump added 4.8 trillion in debt excluding anything COVID-related. He added about 9 trillion total.

Biden added 4.2 trillion total, which is split about evenly: 2.1 trillion or so that was related to COVID, and another 2.1 that wasn’t.

I am no ground hog expert but 4.8 trillion non COVID debt over 4 years works out to 1.2 Trillion a year deficit, hence forth Trump was banging trillion dollar deficits Pre-COVID.

Because you're still rich and if we went back to the way the wealthy were taxed under say, FDR, they'd still be wealthy. Once one's material needs are met many times over taking more off them affects their lifestyle significantly less because beyond a certain point it's all excess. That's why, for example, a flat tax is a regressive tax.

As far as billionaires, it's too much money and thus power for one person to have; no one EARNS a billion dollars, I don't think people comprehend how much money that is, even a single billion.

One of my buddies mentioned his bro paying $900k in taxes one year; the dude is a millionaire who wants for nothing. I ain't exactly crying for him.

Redistribution of wealth also keeps society stable as the more people's needs are met and the better the opportunities they have, the better off everyone is for it.

Your neighbor is not a billionaire controlling our society like a god damn king. Nothing wrong with a merit based society where folks can reap what they sow. That's not what we have now. Instead we have half the nation's wealth in the hands of like 3 people.

I hope in your thinking that companies always pay a fair wage to keep up with the costs of living or when banks or credit unions fail that the state can pick up the slack, or there's relief funding somewhere during natural disasters.

Also, I'm not sure what a government under your thinking would do during hard economic downturns like 2008. Because lower income people tend to havs similar or higher tax burdens than high income people. Not to mention taxes have to come from somewhere, and progressive taxation is the best bang for your buck as a country.
