It looks like Povetkin was telling the truth. WBC to rule in June.

He was tested again March 17 and came up clean. So tested clean before and after the meldonium detection, and the detection was within margin of error (double-digit nanograms) levels.

If he took meldonium during that window it would have definitely remained detectable or even risen (this stuff stays in your system for several months which is why WADA allowed 1-15 milliliters before March 1st and allows <1 milliliter after March 1st). Now that all information is coming out, it looks like it was just a detection of an old micro-trace left in his body well below the legal limit.

The WBC hasn't ruled yet but at this point they would have to invent a new rule just to call him dirty. His levels before, during and after the meldonium detection are all 100% legal according to all WADA/VADA guidelines.

Hopefully this fight is still made.

I still don't think Wider gets the same consideration if the roles were reversed perfectly.

Dan Rafael is a disgusting and obscene individual.

With everyone tied up with other dance partners, this is still the best fight for Wilder. I hope it can still get made.

I don't get what this proves. He originally tested clean. Tests dirty later and then later on tests clean again. Seems pretty clear he used something in the middle there.

Within allowable limits.

They set limits on banned substances so fighters don't get screwed over with contaminants.

1-1.5 micrograms is the amount you're allowed to have in your body

Povetkin had 0.7. Well below the limit.

Don't think that's how meldonium works. Sounds easy yes but it doesn't have to be.

Let's hope this fight materialize.

Pretty much.

They already threatened to sue Big Dan but they have no case.

He based his opinion out of A and B samples between tests that tested positive

I find it funny how the Wilder backers insist Pov is guilty. True fans of the sport listened to ALL sides and it showed who really didn't want to fight...end of story and YEs it will be over turned as I said when the hound dogs attacked...now go fetch that stick.......I STILL have Wilder winning WHEN they fight.....though I will not be rooting for him!

Tests clean. Then tests dirty. Even if its a minute amount, it seems to me he must have used something in between the 2 tests.

Maybe I'm missing something.

With all due respect, what you are missing is what basically everyone who has taken a strong position one way or the other on this is the patience to wait for the investigation to be over and facts revealed publicly before jumping to conclusions one way or the other. People also refuse to educate themselves on anti-doping matters and understand how arbitrary certain protocols can be, and what the ramifications of this arbitrariness can be.

Those that have been following the Meldonium debacle know that it is at best a legitimate good faith attempt to crack down on the widespread use of a legitimate PED that has helped Russian athletes in particular game the system, but a poorly executed one that has opened the door for innocent athletes to potentially test positive, and at worst a completely politically motivated operation targeting Russia as part of a wider geopolitical battle. Either way, it is messy and complex.

As for your proposed scenario, it is certainly a possibility but becomes implausible if Povetkin's manager is telling the truth about the 70 nanograms. I'm obviously not just going to take his word for it, as call me crazy but for some reason I don't always trust people involved in managing or promoting boxers.

I will wait until the end of the month when we have more information to make any judgement, and so should everybody else.

My position was, and remains, that blaming wilder was ridiculous. He had every right to leave. Povetkins manager didn't deny that there was something there. Just said it was below allowable limits.

A lot of tennis players of various nationalities failed at the start of the year but if the men's world 174728 calls a press conference no one cares, the fact sharapova did is part of the conspiracy against Russia angle.
