Israel losing his belt and ending his Middleweight legacy to a guy thats beaten him 3 times has to fucken hurt alot. And he lost the same way to Poatan again. Israel was leading the fight but got caught again in end. Poatans perfect leg check in last round set a chain of events that opened Israel up to Poatans brutal finishing power.

To lose 3 times to a guy who keeps haunting your fight career. Poatan pushed you out of Kickboxing and now hes pushing you out of Mma. Plus losing the same way to him, It all must be a HUGE mind fuck. Israels done as a champion and his copium of the early stoppage and bring back Steve Mazzagati is just pure denial. Once the truth sets into Israels mind he will know that he cant beat Poatan. Its over.

He'd still be favored against anyone at MW.

Alex is his Boogeyman.. He took the punches well and never really took a lot of punishment. That left hook he took while wobbling by the fence would have crumbled most MW's

really makes you respect whittaker who repeatedly lost to izzy yet kept coming back -- even when his fans said he had zero chance. and put on a respectable performance (some even arguing he won)

He was winning till he lost? Got it. Great argument.
It's not an argument. It's a fact. Who will be favourite in the rematch? Who was the favourite in this fight? Yeah, the guy who "doesn't have what it takes".

Hughes had Hallman, only Dennis wasn’t able to reach the heights that Alex has. Other major fighters have had a guy with their number. Izzy can still have his legacy, be considered a HoFamer, and contend for a title in the future. He wiped a lot of talent at middleweight. Still, losing three times to a guy, two of which were brutal, is a part of his legacy, especially if he gets a rematch and loses.

Alex has eight fights, beating two names. That is both amazing and a red-flag. Izzy should try to wait him out as long as possible, especially if one of the guys he already beat is about to get a title shot (Obviously, a rematch is in play here, yet Izzy can drag his feet to the point where the UFC will plug in another fighter).

Everything you're pointing out is valid. Guess we'll just have to wait and see if Israel is the champion I believe he is. We're still here.

Props to Alex, he made a great fight with Izzy and is a deserving champion.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!
Attacking Titans like this one thrills me!!
Another chapter to “Poatan” . You won the battle yet again, but the war wages on! The hunter now becomes the hunted, the game’s not over #Law15 #insertcoin #playagain #nowondertheymadesomanysawmovies

Who said he would be a heavy favourite?

You'd have to be a real fucking moron to watch all 3 of their fights and conclude it's an unwinnable fight for Izzy.

Speaking of fucking morons, we miss you. Come home.

Two things that Pereira had coming into that fight other than weight advantage and power.

Pereira didn't have too much to worry about serious wrestling abilities from Adesanya although Adesanya did put up a spectacular performance in that area. Glover's training methods and advice did well enough to prepare Pereira against a suprise grappling scenario in case Adesanya ever pulled it but it was still the first time Adesanya tried to utilize grappling on an offensive level. It's going to have opening where a bigger, a sufficiently trained fighter can escape from.

Which means that this match was primarily a kickboxing one where both fighters could be comfortable with keeping it standing because one of them trying to take it down to the ground would have been unknown territory for both of them.

Tbh Izzy's recent fights have all been 5 rounders where all of his opponents had the opportunity to survive in there just fine for all of them, unless in rare cases like the Costa one where Izzy was having none of it.

Thus, against Izzy, defend against the leg kicks sufficiently, avoid looping counters like the one he hit Rob with, and your chances of surviving the fight dramatically increases.
