Let the democratic republic of Sherdog vote.

In the red corner - This man is the UFC LHW champion and Poland’s greatest export Jan Blachowicz

In the blue corner - Undefeated middleweight king pin Israel Adesanya who is looking to become the first man to hold the middleweight and light heavyweight belts simultaneously.
Who wins if they actually fight?

Izzy's too fast imo. I like Jan, but I think Izzy is going to make him look silly.

Jan by 2nd round knockout, though I hope Adesanya wins.

Izzy by decision or very late stoppage ......I don’t think Jan is fast enough to land a fight changing blow

Jan is this eras Bisping/Forest. Paper champ

A poll being added would be greatly appreciated @Jackonfire @ mods
Poll added.

Izzy will outpoint him easy I think, but would be fun if Jan ko's Izzy Dizzy

Jan is a good striker for MMA. Israel is a good striker for kickboxing AND MMA.

Izzy by point fight UD.

jan s ground game is underrated he submited krylov with not even glover could do he must be naturally strunger than pizzy and packs the legendary polish power witch is gonna make him run like the romero figth but worst if he gots counter Pizzy has the speed for sure but a rumble said power beats speed

The most damning evidence against Jan’s chances is this:

This will be the FOURTH opponent of Jan in the past two years to have moved up from middleweight (for three it was their very first fight at 205, which has to be a record.). He won one by TKO, lost one by TKO, and won one split decision. Those three were all moving up due to losses at 185 as well. So it’s not like this guy is a bulldozer who runs over bloated middleweights for fun.

You also have to factor in that Jan is effectively an interim champ during what is a bit of a reloading time for the LHW division. He’s never beaten a champion.

There is always an open question when someone moves up in weight until we see them compete. I remind everyone of Max Holloway moving up to face DP. Many people thought that Max would continue to be an amazing combination puncher who would retain his quickness at 155 and add more power. But he didn’t bulk up effectively, his edge in speed wasn’t significant, and he did not absorb the power shots well.

I would expect Israel’s jump to look more like Anderson’s than Max’s, but we won’t know until we see it. And assuming he’s able to handle the physical difference, he should be okay. Jan has deceptively quick and tight punches, but he’s at his best as a counter puncher. If Jan is too patient I would expect Israel to circle, rip leg kicks, and do what he did to Costa and/or Romero.

I think Jan’s chances boil down to (1) the usual puncher’s chance due to his very good power and the possibility that he stings Izzy with every blow he lands, and (2) the possibility that he’s strong enough to force the fight to the cage or the ground and can dominate there.

Looking forward to the fight but think it’s reasonable that people are favoring Israel

Izzy 2nd round tko

Too fast
Too elusive
Striking in a whole other level

Izzy. He’s better everywhere.

People actually think Jan has more than a punchers chance, lol.

The day Jan became the LHW champ, was the day Izzy became a two weight world champ.

As much as I want Jan to win, Adesanya has way more tools in his striking skillset. He will most likely stay on the outside, get the reads and eventually pick Jan apart. Of course Jan can come up with good gameplan, wrestling heavy maybe, some nice ground and pound. It's possible, but unlikely.

I like and respect Jan but he is a weak LHW champ. If Jones or DC were the LHW champ, Adesanya wouldn't be so enthusiastic for LHW belt.
