Can he make 170 lbs. for a champ vs. champ fight?

He's a regular-sized MW in today's landscape (would be considered large 10 years ago).

If he beats Pereira, the division looks like this for him:

Basically ran out of contenders.

Jan's size and power was too much for him, and Jiri's got a giant frame too.

Might make more sense for him to chase his second title @ WW if Leon beats Kamaru in a rematch.

Supposing that Israel can make weight, how does he do against Leon?

Assume that he'll be at 70% because of the weight cut.

He could definitely make the weight with a Pereira like cut, the only issue is how drained he would be.

Why would he? He's currently undefeated a weight class up. The cut could also compromise his ability. Just take a look at how much better Whittaker is up a weight class. Overall, it's makes little to no sense.

He already said it would feel like he is running. Same thing Cro Cop said a few years back about fighting at LHW.

Khamzat will probably be a big fight
for Israel if they both keep winning

I really don't understand the obsession with champions changing weight classes. Let the guy rule his division, he's fine there.

MM, Aldo, GSP, Silva, Jones, Fedor. All known for long streaks, not for changing weight classes. All GOATs. Sometimes I think champs need to stay in their lane.

MM fought at BW then moved to FLW and now is kinda back at BW

Aldo wanted to go to challenge for LW belt, ended up chasing the BW belt unsuccessfully

GSP solidified his claim to GOAT status by beating Bisping at MW

Silva was a WW before UFC and ventured more than once to LHW

Jones you s flirting with HW for the past decade

Fedor is overweight

There is no way he makes 170

He has so little body fat at 185, there's nothing to cut... He's not cutting 15 lbs dehydrating himself

He should stay at 185 and just dominate his weightclass , maybe he breaks anderson's record.

I imagine a 170 lb Adesanya would look reminiscent of Pops from Regular Show.

Izzy looks underweight at middleweight. So how or why would he cut to welterweight.

most of those guys had interesting opponents other than mm. Adasanya mw matchups are stale. Things can change quickly vut today I don’t want to see him fight any of those guys again

Should be 2x’s by Vettori

Gee, I don't know, the first fight was basically a draw. That's the reason the rematch was a touted as it was, because maybe felt Vettori got robbed in their first fight.

Ask Marvin Vettori and he’ll tell you that it’s Israel Adesanya who should be grateful to have the opportunity to run this one back.
Much of the build to Adesanya and Vettori’s rematch at UFC 263 has revolved around Vettori’s unwavering belief that he defeated Adesanya in their first meeting at UFC on FOX 29 three years ago. That April 2018 fight just so happened to take place at Gila Rivera Arena in Glendale, Ariz., where the middleweights meet again on Saturday.
Here’s what Vettori claimed that Adesanya said to him after the split verdict went in Adesanya’s favor:
“After the fight, he knew he lost; he really knew he lost,” Vettori told MMA Junkie. “He came up and told me, ‘We’ll do it again. Don’t worry. We’re going to meet again.’ He was looking all kind of like beaten. His mind was beaten. Then he went up to my coaches and is like, ‘Ah yeah, maybe I will come to train.’ He was humbled a lot by my performance against him. Then right after he goes out and talks (expletive) on media. That’s what pissed me off, because he’s like a double-faced piece of crap. That’s what he is. So my performance, I was solid. I definitely think that I won the fight. But the judges didn’t see it that way.”

But he got beat the 2nd time handily so its a moot point. Vettori is not on izzy’s level

I remember thinking whitaker was an idiot for moving up and it would not work out well for him. He made a fool out of me. As far as this thread goes, it's my opinion izzy is small enough to make 170, he used to fight at 175 but idk he doesn't seem the type to make that kind of a drastic cut so I don't pay attention to that potential divisional change.
