Chandler was a big name from a rival company with some star power. Unfortunately Islam is just wish Khabib. He's not that well known and still needs to prove himself. Beating a bunch of nobodies ain't gonna cut it. Also it's worth mentioning Hooker wasn't 1-3 in his last four at the time he was booked to fight Chandler lol and come on, Poirier dusted off Bobby Green's ass in a more impressive fashion in my opinion. Obviously it's not ideal for him to get a title shot after a Bobby Green win, but its the circumstance. After Oliveira/Gaethje fight, Islam is the next best guy. Everyone knows that. It's like when Khabib won the title beating Al... sure, on paper, it doesn't seem right. But the circumstances dictated the situation. And everyone knew Khabib was the best, so it's foolish to be mad about it.

No. The original fight was for the next shot. I didn’t expect that to change with the late replacement. If he beats Oliveira/Justin, there will be nowhere to hide from that point on though. I expect him to follow the lead of Khabib though. Defend once per year and probably dominate. But his resume is so thin it’s hard to call at this point.
