Fighting in January makes the most sense for an active champion like Merab was or Pereira, but of course Islam with the same pattern of cherry picking & creating space between fights for zero reason.

How did defending 4 times in one year work out for Merab? And I guarantee you if Pereira ever had to fight good wrestlers instead of mediocre kickboxers in one of the weakest divisions in the modern era, he wouldn't have been so active.

WMMA have headlined PPVs, especially Nunes. Undisputed title fights are the headliners, and you'd have to be crazy if you think their original plan ever involved Harrison/Nunes or Paddy/Gaethje as their first Paramount headliner instead of an undisputed male title fight.

Either one would sell exactly zero PPVs. As for one-month Paramount+ subscriptions, I doubt you'd sell significantly fewer by making Gaethje/Paddy the co-main for the BMF belt given the price point. It's a misguided PPV mindset booking on a broadcast card.

Everytime a fighter goes into fight camp the possibility of injuries increases as does getting sick. Why do you think pull outs happen? Doing camps back to back even further increase risk of illness and injury. Alex as I said before is a great of example of what can happen if you're doing too many camps back to back. Then there's weight cuts too, doing too many weight cuts back to back also compromise your body, RDR is a good example of what too many weight cuts back to back can do to you.

No I'm not a nut hugger of Islam I'm just not putting stupid unrealistic expectations on these guys to defend every other month.

He would still be in fight shape going into training for a fight in January. He'd be sparring & gearing up for the style & technique of his opponent. Islam doesn't have to cut to his new weight anyways . so therefore Islam wouldn't be killing himself to cause a possible injury or illness. Of course any of that can occur, but with your logic, every fighter shouldn't train or go thru a camp due to the possibility of an injury or illness.

So you saying that GSP, Jon, & Mighty Mouse didn't clean out their divisions & fight the guys who were next up in every title defense?

& Merab defending 4 times a year was all everyone was talking about & admiring til he lost. Just because he lost doesn't knock off how he's viewed as a fckn warrior. Pereira did pretty well fighting often as well. Everyone wants to complain about fighters not fighting enough (like they do with Islam), but wanna knock guys for fighting often by giving the fans a spectacle? I guarantee you this, if Islam was to fight as often as Merab or Pereira did, he would undeniably be looked at as one of the best to ever do it in any weight class ever. Nobody would have any ammo to hate on Islam. But the reality of it is, is that Islam cherry picks & chooses to have lay offs instead of being a fckn dawg & fighting whoever whenever.
