And no, there's an only Olympic Trials every 4 years---fewer weights than in Worlds years.... thus making it harder to make the team.

He was the fucking olympic trials runner-up in what shoulda been his freshman year of college. He beat Reece Humphrey, Jayson Ness, and Jordan Oliver to reach those finals...as an adult you goof. I mistakenly thought he beat Metcalf in the trials...and it was 4-1 at AGON dude lol... that was a year before the Trials. Pico beat Humphrey 12-1 at the Trials after losing to him 10-0 the year prior. Jordan Oliver was a 2x NCAA champ, 3 time finalist.


Stop commenting on wrestling.

So I watched a couple of Bobby’s old fights today and Clay Guida and Thiago Moises were both able to take him down. That said, he’s very good at scrambling back to his feet and none of those guys could control him on the ground for very long.

I actually think Bobby’s wrestling is better than Beneil Dariush’s but Islam’s is on another level, and he has much better control. Bobby doesn’t have an answer for the judo trips and throws that Islam likes to use.

If I were him, I’d try to stay in the center where he has a better chance of defending takedown.

No, Hendo did not "forget" how to wrestle, he just did not keep that tool set sharpened as much as he did in his early days - you know what I am saying, you are a long time fan, no need to bicker over semantics. And ye, there are many reason why that can happen - 0.000% chance early MMA days Hendo gets out wrestled by Jake Shields and Shogun.

Hendo is not an idiot. Rampage isnt an idiot. Explosive wrestling doesnt last forever. These guys got all kinds of knee and back problems.

On the SENIOR level he reached the finals of the Olympic Trials. It was a World Team btw...odd tgat someone who wrestled through college would say that ;)

As an adult, at the senior level, he beat Zain Retherford, Jordan Oliver, Jayson Ness, and Reece Humpgrey---who have combined 6 NCAA titles and 2 Hodge Trophies.

Yea I lnow. I confused Metcalf for Oliver. Both were 2x champs 3x finalsts. Metcalf lost to Molinaro.

Islam is growing on me, I found Khabibs grappling a little boring UNTIL he started searching for subs, Islam looks for the sub as soon as he gets control and I love to see that kind of grappling.
