Isami Jiu-Jitsu BJJ Belts

Anyone ever own or see an Isami BJJ belt? The color is OK, but the embroidery would probably look pretty sweet. Blue w/silver or Purple w/gold or Brown w/orange....

Just curious as to whether they actually DO look good, or if they're really flimsy or anything that might deter somebody from buying one.

I have a blue isami belt. Best belt i've seen/owned.

You can choose a custom belt label, which has really nice metallic thread highlights.

the belt is firm but not overly stiff and holds it shape well. i always roll mine up after i use it so even after 1+ years my blue belt is still firm and nice... just a tad faded.

For a comparsion, i've owned Atama belts, and those are SUPER floppy and limp.

you choose the belt based on length and not Gi size which is great... so measure ur current belt and u can decide whether u like it longer or shorter.

nothing bad to say at all.

it was worth the $$$

Thanks dude, totally answered my questions. I was afraid of them being too floppy like a Karate belt. And I was glad to see the measurement in inches/cm instead of by size.

Great news, thanks again homie

I am thinking about ordering an Isami belt. If I wear an A3 Atama belt, would I be better off with an size 6 or a size 7?

i have an isami belt and to be honest i dont like it much at all, seems very flimsy compared to my atama one, didnt realise at the time i bought it how different it was (i actually bought it in one of their stores in japan sodidnt have my other one for comparison)

Have to say though their gi's are excellent, i got the belt at the same time i got the gi which i have to say is mega comfortable and very well made

Hm... for that price+ shipping... i would go with a belt that meerkatsu or one of the other guys on the forums reviewed.. i think they both did a comparison review, unless theyre both the same review

Yea i still havent bought it.. i ended up just getting vulkan purple.. but theyre a darker purple now. The whole reason i decided vulkan was because it used to be that light, pastel purple. I'm still considering grabbing the Isami or maybe a War Kimonos belt (hesitant on the latter because they're SO DARK they look black)

When I ordered the Isami belt from chokesports I chose the "Made in Japan" option and the belt is freakin' awesome. It is 100% cotton and you can tell that Isami uses a slightly thicker filler within the cotton material of the belt so while it feels slightly flimsy it is also a bit heavy. It's hard to describe without actually holding the belt yourself. It is obvious that these belts fray nicely after long use and washing. They are also hand-made to order!

The Atama belts are noticeably thicker, though, but it is a preference as to what you want. I prefer the Isami shade of blue over the Atama light blue, which tends to not look blue at all after long use and washing. I am going to stick to the Isami belt and gis. They are the simply the best in my opinion.

You can also try WAR belts but it is questionable what kind of quality you will receive. They are made of gi material and 100% cotton. I've ordered all 3 shades of blue and each belt was obviously different than the other whether it was thickness, length, or width. One of them was perfect, the other was too wide, and the other was too thin. Maybe I just got some weird batch? They are awesome, though. I'm sticking to the Isami belt from now on, though. It is just what I wanted.

i just received my belt the other day and it is SWEEEEET! got the blue belt (made in japan) with kanji silver embroidery of my name... looks and feels awesome! i've owned belts from atama, hck, gameness, otm and koral and by far the isami tops them all by a mile!

Agreed! The Isami belts are very well made and fray perfectly with use. Everything else seems cheap in comparison.

Apologies for the thread-necromancy (I didn't think my question was worth making a new thread), but does anyone know how thick the Isami belts are?
