Ze Radiola seems to be starting his own gig "Ze Radiola BJJ". Would be huge if true. Ze Radiola is the head coach of the GB competition team, the coach of both Estimas, Ottavio Sousa and many others of GB's top competitors.

Does anybody know more about that split?

No, but this is interesting to me. I've heard vague rumors of Romulo leaving as well, but only 3rd hand.

Regarding Barral, I've heard that's been going around from a couple of years back. I understand once these guys reach a certain level, they will like to make and keep all the money rather than pay associations fee and buy GB uniforms.

That's what I figured. What does Barral gain at this point from an affiliation? If I were Carlinhos there are some guys I just wouldn't charge fees to because they're more valuable as figureheads for the association.

Romulo has nothing to gain from GB besides networking and training partners.

It makes sense for GB to waive their affiliation fees for top guys like Romulo and the Estimas.

3rd party old legend...

There was a time Barral used to be sponsor by Adidas. Once he was training at the main GB HQ with the competition team and was told several times he needed to use official GB uniform rather than Adidas, so Barral said fine, I´m leaving. GB back off and let him alone rather than risk him leaving GB.

There has been years and years of rumors with him leaving GB because he doesn´t agree with how GB run things and honestly I don´t blame him at all. Like you mentioned, people like Estima Bros´, Barral, Pena, etc. doesn´t need GB anymore but it´s the other way around.

My coach is very close to Ze. I'll ask him today.

I always wondered about that because he rocked the Adidas in competition, not GB official. I know the Estimas used to be Storm guys too, Pena is now. I did hear Draculino say once that for the top guys a lot of the rules are different (himself included), which makes sense. As you point out, GB needs them more than they need GB.

Looking at his Instagram and posts from schools in his association, looks like there is a lot happening with Ze Radiola Team "ZR Team". New logo and several pics of him with SYR gis instead of GB. Should be interesting to see what transpires from this.

Signs point to yes. There were rumblings at the pans and I wouldn't be surprised if it happens in the next few weeks.

I'm not surprised by this. There has been rumblings about Ze Radiola and the top competitors leaving for some time now..

From what I heard a few months back he will be. A few of his top students will be as well I imagine.

Would be huge because apparently Central and Eastern Europe has been Gracie Barraized through his students. If they follow Ze GB will lose half a continent.

I went at his academy in Recife last summer and it was still a GB one. But a day ago I saw it was announced that Carlos junior would coach the GB competition team for the worlds, so it looks like he will. Let's see if the Estimas will follow him or not.

The Estimas won't. Everyone else probably will though.

Hmm.. IMHO he should of just set his own shop up.

Official announcement:

The rumors of Alliance are false, I think. He has started his own team, ZR Team.

Good for him, he deserves better. The guy has run their competition team for such a long time and produced so many champions.

Just talked to my coach, who is very close to Ze. Ze is doing his own thing and definitely not joining Alliance. The picture Ze's son posted was just because they happened to be at the same party as Fabio Gurgel and the Alliance hashtags were a joke. It's still not clear who is leaving GB with Ze.

I think Romulo just posted something to deny he was leaving
