I was randomly watching his fight today him vs. Kyle Bochniak and what a hell of a fight that was.

And Zabit was fantastic most of the fight, until he got tired in the end there. Although the last flurry of punches in the end of the fight was highly entertaining.

And this fight made me think of Zabit, is he the most wasted potential fighter the UFC ever had?

With his skillset and his mind for the game. I think he has to be up there.

Thoughts?

If UFC fights only has 1.5 rounds Zabit would be the GOAT

I remember the hype on Sherdog of the Zabit-Yair fight, but that fight never came to be. Another one of the biggest what if fights

He was an exciting fighter but he was a frontrunner and would've gassed out bad if he got a title fight vs either Volkanovski or Holloway.

That's a good argument, if he had great cardio he'd be something to behold I believe.

He had a great run, reaching # 3 in the rankings, achieving a very high level of success in the UFC, so in a big way not wasted potential. Yes, he could've become champ at some point, so in that way he failed to realize his potential by dropping out prematurely. The most wasted potential to become a champ in UFC history perhaps.

I don't think Zabit had what it takes to be champ, but definitely enough to stay in the top 5 for years to come. His cardio paired with his draining style would have made him very vulnerable in 5 round fights and I'm of the belief that if he adopted a more conservative style in those 5 rounders, he would be nowhere near as effective

Zombit MAGAmedsharabulletov is the most overtalked fighter in history with fancy kickboxing and 2 rounds of cardio, with a single notable win over Kevin Qatar
Jeremy Stephens and Kyle GOATchniak gave Zombit some trouble, so dagibro started calling for titleshots trying to desperately dodge Yair Rodrigez

No. Dr Magomedshapirov was a great fighter, could have been champion, but walked away on his own terms. I'm definitely okay with that for him.

Zabit is great. He lacks having power but he's good everywhere. He just retired to soon.

Now if you were to say brian Ortega I'd say that's a good one to ask.

Ortega was very promising but his fight iQ is garbage and he thinks his boxing is elite but he can't hold water with any top 3 top 5 strikers uses his head as a punching bag..

Jones is still the biggest waste of talent in MMA's history, as he has so much of it, but still had to resort to roiding, fouling, and ducking.

Lee Murray might also be up there.

Zabit had a great skillset and frame for his weight-class but serious physical limitations. He declined 5 rounds against Kattar because he himself knew his cardio is shit and he had pillow-fists.

I say Cain is the biggest waste. Cain Velasquez. Fought the same two guys for 5 straight fights during his prime (big foot and JDS), lost his belt because he didn't acclimate to altitude (Werdum got there months early), and then got sidelined with injuries.

Not everyone keep going to a title and defend it till they lay on their back looking up into a medics face. He did good. His rules.

People can say Khabib did great in the UFC. But he wasted his real potential for being the Greatest Fighter in history if he'd have given it another 2-4 years and defended 6-8times and/or won a WW belt... what could have been.

Never got the hype behind this guy

Overrated and more of a “what if” rather than wasted potential, his best win is Kattar in a 3 round main event and a bunch of UFC rejects.

Don’t really see how he beats Volk/Holloway all those years ago tbh

I would say among the most overhyped fighters in the last 10-15 years.

This, this, and this.

Volk or Max would have toyed with and then destroyed this guy. Topuria would have retired him in under half a round.

Rampage Jackson. He didn't take UFC seriously after winning title and beating Hendo.
