I've been listening to these guys breakdown the fight for almost 35 minutes. This fight is gonna be insane when you actually factor in what both guys are good and bad at. I really recommend you listen to this video. I time stamped the best breakdown @14:46

Why does such a great fight get stuck headlining on such a shit card? This one's gonna be good.

Rockhold should win but he looks like he is in danger of being knocked out every minute a fight is standing up

I like both fighters, hope the best man wins.

That said, Luke's chin will most likely fail him in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I dunno. On paper it looks like Yoel has him beat in most areas. Rockholds grappling is great, but Yoel is quite literally in the "once in a century" grappler. I dont see Luke with an advantage there. Standing up, Luke may be technically a better striker, but he is prone to being attacked, and Yoel can sit in the bushes from three or four rounds then launch out of nowhere. I'm picturing Yoel dribbling Lukes head off the camvas before the fifth.

Luke does have a path to victory. He has to pitch a perfect game. He does have that in him, but I dunno, Im not seeing it happen.

Kenny here,

Yoel Romero is one of the most hyped fighters in current times. He almost lost to Kennedy and has only 2 flash knee wins. And not he is known as a Kneeing KO machine. And since he is known as a literal cheat, the refs will pay close attention to him. No more water spill stalling.

I bet my friend $10 that Luke Rockhold is going to win.

My thoughts exactly. I dont get how Luke kicks so fluidly and smooth but his only offense with his hands is a check right hook and backward movement.

Because it made perfect sense for the first Oceanian UFC champion to headline an Australian card. And then Whittaker got injured so...

Bet 4u rockhold, and bet 1u 1.5O - decent odds
Better topgame, better ground game. Doesn´t gas.

Yoel got a shot the first 2 rounds, after that he´s gasses badly...on the ground he´s explosive but he´s not technical enough. He does got the KO power and luke has bad boxing, but overall Yoel has seemed very slow in the first round, unless he does what david branch did, i don´t give him much of a chance. KO by knees or punches is a possibility, but this being a pick em fight? Nonono. I´m happy with my 1.80 for Rockhold. Yoel was 1.90 at the time.
Rockhold is 1.60-1.66 now at most bookies

Look at the fight with Whittaker how slow Yoel was..that plays right into Lukes game, as he´s a slow starter. Yoel will not make it to the champhionship rounds without getting inished or controlled heavily on the ground. his gastank is awful.

As usual when i say all this - i usually end up losing every bet. so i´m not gonna be suprised. but luke is by far the better fighter and yoel is too slow a starter and gasses imo so rockhold by decision or late finish is my prediction

i would argue it was AO v Brock.

fans and media alike were split down the middle, and virtually everyone was absolutely confident they were right.

half of em were.

i've never seen it so split, and never seen it where both sides were so sure of the outcome. including this fight.

Yoel wins easy. I'v never been more sure of a fight

It's going to be an amazing fight, much like Whittaker vs Yoel and Weidman vs Yoel.

MW is phenomenal right now. It's unforgivable that Bisping held up the division in it's peak. MW has never had this many top level fighters before.

heh. that's a really long way of saying "if Luke doesn't get smashed with one of Romero's quintessential power shots, he wins"

and what you aren't mentioning is Luke's questionable defense.

but except for the one-sided-ness of it, i like your analysis :) cheers

Decent matchup. On paper, I think Rockhold is the more skilled striker AND grappler, but Yoel's wrestling will neutralize the latter and it will be a striking match, and Rockhold is very hittable and slightly chinny. I see Rockhold owning the match until Yoel lands something big and ko's him.

You must be really confident in a Rockhold win to bet that kind of money on him.
