History aside, I'd say that they definitely tried to capitalize on it. It's no coincidence that they gave the spotlight to Paige and Charlotte this past RAW, right after the Rousey fight.
- Regarding the controversial RAW ending with Paige and WWE Divas Champion Charlotte this week, where Paige took a shot at Charlotte's late brother Reid Flair, PWInsider reports that the idea to mention Reid was presented to Charlotte and she was able to give feedback on the angle, in terms of the verbiage she would use and the way the angle was being presented - as a way to give Charlotte some sympathy from the fans.
The original idea reportedly came from something Charlotte mentioned to WWE creative recently, about how her entire career is a tribute to Reid. Apparently some parts of the angle were dropped throughout the day and other parts evolved. Charlotte was not forced into the segment and was given time to prepare or give feedback during the day.
I was also noted that the angle was discussed a lot throughout the day and senior WWE creative members were against it. Some voiced their opinions to Vince McMahon, who ultimately made the call. There's talk that the angle was actually pulled before RAW went on the air but Vince made the decision to keep it on the show.
It almost was cut, which is probably why it closed out the show. They had no where else to put it.![]()

yknow on the internet it helps to type your thoughts out in a context as if you are speaking to other people to convey a message.
Whats the point of posting on a forum if you are just going to talk to yourself and in a context as if you are just thinking instead of communicating.
I was really confused when they had a diva match contract signing as the main event of RAW.. I for sure think that the popularity of Ronda was/is their motivation for the "divas revolution".. As well as the source for giving all the Divas stupid submission moves and ending almost every Divas match for 2-3 months with a tap out.
I'm not a 100% Diva hater but theres nothing that they can do outside of finding a once in a life time compelling character that can captivate the audience. The Divas will always be the bathroom break/Beer refill segment of the show. Fact of the matter is most men simply don't find women interesting and WWE is a male dominated audience.
This is why you don't see female comedians, hosts, intellectual communicators, etc.. Except for the 1/1000 exception.. And even the 1/1000 exception is usually forced and just a product of "diversity".
That being said, I think 2015 has been the best year for Divas in the history of WWE. Nikki was imo the best Divas champ ever. Especially towards the end of her championship reign.... That being said, I'd still get up to piss during her matches.
LOL @ Nikki being the best Divas Champ ever.
Watch NXT if you don't think the Divas are capable of captivating an audience.
They're good, it's just that the WWE manages to fuck everything up. Don't ask me how they can take a great division within their own company and use the same stars making that division great, and then make them shitty on the main show. It's quite mind-boggling.
It depends on what attributes you value most, I guess. Like how people might disagree on who won a round in MMA based one of them valuing effective striking over takedowns or valuing submission attempts over Octagon control.
So, if he favors "effective plastic" surgery over other attributes that make a WWE Diva, then there's a strong argument that Nikki is the greatest Divas champion ever. If you value other stuff, like "wrestling" and "promos," for example, then Nikki isn't even the best Divas champion this year.
