Is working two jobs for extra money worth it?

One job is stressful enough, can't even think about a 2nd job at the moment but if there is tons of money to be made I might consider it.

I'm actually going to go talk to my old employer (sneaker store) about doing stock for them. Only an extra 10-15 hours a week and a 30%(sometimes 50%) off shoes. I think I can Handel it, we will see.

Working one job is barely worth it most the time.

I would occasionally take a freelance job for extra money. But what would always happen is an 8 week job would get featuritis and after about 4 months I'd be wishing I could have my time back rather than the money.

The one thing you need to do when working 2 jobs though is to have at least 1 day a week where you're off work from both of them. You need at least a 24 hour period of time to catch up on sleep. Not that you're going to sleep 24 hours straight but one day a week where you can just lounge around your place instead of running around. It's one thing to work 7 days straight for a week but to do that week after week without a single true day off is too much for the human body to take.

I don't really see it as a big deal if you are young without a family. I did it over summers in college. During the school year I always worked as well, so that was pretty much two jobs. I can't imagine it once you have a house and family as your time becomes more precious.

Depends how bad you need the extra money or what it's going towards

I have a stressful 6 figure job. Then on Saturdays from 9_2 I sell cars at a small independent store my friend owns. I get 100 for sitting there and then 200 -for everything I sell. I avg 500 a week. How could I say no? It's 5 hours

Married? Kids? I need those 5 hours on weekends for the family. Couple hundred bucks doesn't change that. Just me, though.....

Thought about it just to get some experience when i make the career change. I know i'll have no time though, already away from home for about 11 hours of the day (driving + work) and on top of that i have classes.

I have a fairly decent paying job right now. But I was thinking about picking up a fuck around job at Game Stop or maybe delivering pizzas for a little extra cash. I think it would be fun to work at a pizza place again after so many years, and not really need the job so that if the manager or owner told me to do something I didn't want to do, I could just tell them to fuck off and quit. Or get fired.

If its causing you more problems than they're worth then I don't think it's worth it. But really, it depends on you.

I knew of a couple of amigos that worked two jobs so they could send back money to their families. They then got hooked on coke and other stimulants (I am talking sweating bullets at 6 A.M in 40F weather), and had to pick up a third job to support their coke habit.

It is for me. I work 35 hours a week at my full time job and between 16-24 at my part time. It brings in enough that it allows my wife to stay home and take care of the kids without having to worry about day care.

If you've got a well paying job you should probably learn to value your free time based off your regular hourly pay.

If I have to do a stupid project that needs to be done, I figure out of much time it will take me vs how much money it would cost to hire someone else.

While the idea of working a responsibility-free job sounds fun and nostalgic as fuck, getting paid $9 an hour for 8 hours isn't even worth getting out of bed for if you don't have to.

When I hit 6 figures, I stopped caring about working a second job. A second job provided more fun money for us, and I loved doing that. If I had to do it now, and it meant my wife being able to stay home with my son, then hell yeah I'd do it.

I wouldn't go do something for like $10/hr, or wait tables, but rather it was consulting projects or similar where I got to do something cool and learn some things instead of mindless work.

Fun money? Sure, make it mindless, but there have to be perks in addition to the hours. Discounts where you work, games, etc.
