Do you guys think working two jobs... one full-time and one part-time... is worth it?

Do you guys think that working two jobs is worth the extra cash?

Some people say that the extra cash is not worth the added stress and loosing the free time with family and friends.

Some people also say... "What's the point in having extra cash if you don't even have time to spend it because you're working so much"?

But then there's people that say if you find the "right" second job you'll be fine... and the extra money will actually relieve the stress of paying monthly bills.

Has anyone here ever worked two jobs for some extra cash?

I have a stressful 6 figure job. Then on Saturdays from 9_2 I sell cars at a small independent store my friend owns. I get 100 for sitting there and then 200 -for everything I sell. I avg 500 a week. How could I say no? It's 5 hours

I work 70 hours a week at the moment, or 10 hours everyday. It's not so bad because I'm saving up quite a bit and its only for the Summer until I head back to class which will then bump me down to 20 hours a week, but its been somewhat dreadful. I haven't been able to go out with friends to do fun stuff or get hammered like everyone seems to be doing so.

On the plus side I do constant walking (up to five miles a day), eating better, built a workout routine and don't have time to blow my money away so its adding up quickly. The money I used to spend on cases of beer every weekend has now gone to better food and other healthy shit. I've lost some weight around my midsection and can see my abdominals. I just look at it as temporary and it helps me forget about everything else.

Short term from experience its okay, but long term I can see it driving me insane.

All depends on how much money you need, and how much money you want.

Would I work 2 jobs just to pull in 50k a year? Probably not. I'd probably just put in the effort to find one job that paid me 50k.

Would I work 2 jobs to pull in 250k a year? Yes.

In my 20's I worked union labor building Petco park during the day and was security there at night(I mostly slept in my car). It was worth it then, I'd never do it again though.

The money is not worth it unless you do it for a short period of time because you really need money. Nobody got rich working endless hours in low payed jobs.

Hard work is worth it, but not in a 12h at 10$/h better than 8h at 10$/h way. Part of the hard work should be non payed work, should go into learning new skills that will allow you in the future get payed more per hour.

Thats a pretty nice set up for a side job.

Your telling me you sell 2 cars every Saturday?

sd!

If it is just for the money, then maybe not.
But career-wise it is a great way to get experience and connections, plus it looks good on a resume.

I do a 30hr/week 'job' and work a night or two on the weekend doing security. Works fine. I get to socialise and get action while bring paid. I'd only be drinking or gaming otherwise.

You can't fuck bitches and get money without getting money.

I've worked two jobs before. It wasn't all that bad (Certain days when the fatigue hits you can suck), but I also didn't/don't have kids or a SO. I made enough to buy myself my first car, so yea, it was worth it.

Worse was going to college while both wrestling and working nights.

Do it for a short amount of time then stop. I did it after college, was a front desk manager at one hotel and a night manager at another in new orleans. It was fucking ridiculous but I only kept the night manager job for 9 months and I made a ton of money, and I used my double experience to help make up for lack of total industry time to get better positions. Wouldn't want to do it again but it helped my life and career a ton.

I did it when I was younger and my primary job paid me very little/offered no overtime. I worked 2 nights a week 5-10:30p at a newsstand for 10/hour under the table, then 40 hours overnights in an ER for 16/hour. The cash job made it so I didn't dip into my bank account for basic expenditures like food or the odd 8 am after work beer. Once I got a higher paying day job I dropped the second job for logistical reasons. It would need to be a pretty great deal to get me to take on a second job now, but my job is much more stressful now.
