Is Valentina vs Nicco at Fly W one of the top 5 biggest mismatches in a title fight?

Do you think this is destined to be one of the most obscene mismatches we've ever seen in a title fight, more than a St Pierre or Anderson defense in their peak, Velasquez Dos Santos 2 and 3, Penn's title defenses and so on? Or do you think it is closer than many fans seem to think?

its number 1... by far

theres not even a close number 2

Joanna vs Carla was another brutal one.

This fight, when it happens will be a one sided mauling.

Was Joanna vs Carla that much worse than the men's defenses I mentioned, if we're going to go with that one?

Maybe not. But it's one of the first that came to mind. Carla was completely hopeless in there, she couldn't take Joanna down and was getting slapped about on the feet, the poor thing.

It's hard to compare WMMA to MMA as well I guess.

I think with women it really does distort it seeing women getting in there, even with their conscious decision to make it their career path. I don;t think any women title fight, even that one, has been that much more of a pounding than Velasquez Dos Santos 3 or Velasquez Silva 2 or 1 or St Pierre vs Dan Hardy or Anderson vs Franklin 2 or Penn vs Stevenson or Sanchez. There may be a strong psychological component here.

Completely agree

Valentina's corner better have that towel ready

War Nicco!

TJ vs Soto as a close second imo.

Andrei had one or two extreme mismatch title fights as well iirc.

Nicco will fight Eubanks first in my opinion.

It's hard for me to know how good Nicco really is, her best win is Roxy who is legit at 125 but difficult to compare with the elite UFC BWs like Shev was, then we have Murphy who was good but not great at BW (could never really beat the established top 10's) and Honchak who is almost 40 and had a multi-year layoff before coming back for TUF. I wouldn't be shocked if she could challenge Val though considering how young she is in her career with a lot of room for growth.

It probably is

But it's not a real title fight
So no one will care

Not sure if trolling. Esparza was the Invicta champ and was the favorite over JJ.

True enough and Nicco beat TWO former Invicta champs - neither of whom lost their belt in the cage btw.

Nicco will fight Eubanks first in my opinion.

There'll be a lot of pressure for the Shevchenko matchup now and I see Eubanks already talking about taking a fight before the title shot. Hard for the UFC to justify a 2-2 girl, even though she's the second highest ranked bjj girl in the UFC after Dern.

Dana White said he wants Sijara Eubanks to get the title shot next due to the work she did on TUF but with Nicco Montano out with an injury for so long and Eubanks having missed that first chance to fight Montano there is room to suggest White will change his mind.

Valentina Shevchenko was given a showcase fight to show what she can do and she performed fully. No hesitation or taking it slow - just a brutal beat down. She has made a case to take the next title shot.

Now the level of competition is not anywhere near the same but if White wants an excuse to put up Montano vs Shevchenko he has one now.

And Eubanks just might want a fight instead of waiting 3-5 more months until Montano has recovered.

There will probably be other fighters in the running by then too.

The others are Jon Jones against everyone except Gus.
Agree this was one sided af.

So Shevchenko the new Francis already broke mighty mouse's title defenses record. God some people here so sad.

UFC brought in a terrible noob with a shiny record FOR Bullet to finish and you all pretend it was a tuff talented champion Nicco she did that too. Let's pretend we never seen passive Bullet vs legit fighters go to decision after decision with little damage inflicted.

I'm gonna favour Shevchenko but greatest title fight miss match HOW NEW TO MMA ARE YOU? Watch 10 random title fights 5 will be way worse.

Jones vs Chael? That was about as close to a sure thing as I can think of.

Your description of the fight kinda sounds like Maia vs Woodley, so maybe the difference ain't that big (yeah, I know Woodley didn't throw much, but with his power he still smashed Maia's face pretty good).

Thing is - Nicco fought some big names in the WFLW div (Honchak, Murphy, and yeah, Roxy too) and beat them all. Granted, the top fighters in the weight class are Jennifer Maia and Valentina, who is probably better than Nicco in every aspect of the game, but it's not like she's some untested noob from the brazilian regional circuits. So all the geniuses from Sherdog who saw Valentina dominating in a real mismatch can relax with the hyping - yeah, Valentina is better and probably gonna win, but it's not like Nicco has "absolutely zero chances of winning".
