ive been thinking about the sudden acceptance of cyborg in the ufc

She can't make 135 easily and thus fight is at 140

So I've been wondering if maybe this is "testing the market" for a future 145 women's division?

They can't put her straight in at 145 but having a test fight at 140 makes sense as it doesn't seem a 135er is being unfairly set up to fail.

Thoughts?

I doubt they make a 145 division, it is way too shallow.

Or they just make a 145 division to get Cyborg in the ufc, scrap 135 and just have every 135er not cut as much weight. Simple. Or just make the new weight class 140.

140 class would be awesome

The way they should have done it originally but Ronda was terrified. UFC knew Cyborg would take out their pretty girl (woof IMO) and so they destroyed her reputation as they did with Fedor.

Ronda became so popular because of her dominance. I think if they get behind Cyborg, and Cyborg continues to smash people. Cyborg could become a big star too. Not as big as Ronda, but she could do okay. They should start the 145lbs women's division. It will make them more money. Cyborg is a beast.

Why would they do all that just for Cyborg? All the rest of the girls not cut weight yet Cyborg would be cutting from 170lbs, we've seen her fight enough blown up flyweights if she wants to fight a top contender she needs to make the weight.

Zero depth at 145lbs.

I seriously doubt they are thinking of a heavier weight class. Some of the girls are already fighting up at BW and could likely make 125. Anything above 135 would be razor thin in talent and Cris is not enough of a draw on her own to warrant it. I'm sure they are just trying to inject additional interest in WMMA and Cris will have to make a choice from there if she performs well.

yeah but the UFC can fake it. Saying how great all these women are by having them fight one another. But then when they face Cyborg they will be destroyed. And Dana can be like "Cyborg is the p4p best in the world, she is moving to the mens division for a superfight with Conor"

The masses don't know about fighters skills all they care to see his hype. Whatsmore if you create the division, some good women may actually start coming up. Just like the 115lbs division they got.

See my mistake was thinking that I was in a realistic & intelligent conversation.

It was semi troll/semi sense. But look in reality they could hype Cyborg as the next best thing, unbeatable. And the general public would buy it.

No, there will almost certainly never be a women 145 division in the UFC. There are pretty much no fighters to populate it.

One of the reasons that Cyborg has been facing largely cans for the last ten years is because there are pretty much no girls at 145.

140 is to bring Cyborg down in weight, if she can make 140 then theres the argument that she can go the extra mile and make 135

(and shes fighting a 125'er)

Just to ilustrate the lack of depth at 145, Charmaine Tweet is ranked 5th in the world by fightmatrix. Peggy Morgan 7th.... Marles Coenen is still ranked #2 despite only fighting once a year.

I doubt they make a 145 division, it is way too shallow.

The 135 pound division is stacked: rousey (who may or may not ever fight again)
Holm who won one big fight before losing to the gate keeper
Tate (the gate keeper) like a male jeremy horn

I couldnt even tell you who the champ is at 125 much less name another "fighter"

I know of rose and page, not cause they are good but because sometimes the internet is to graphic and i like to get back to my roots by using cable for soft core. (Thin ice with a yellow card but stop with the censorship, im speakin truth #donthate)

Point being is that wmma is shallow. They shouldnt even have weight classes. It should be open weight like the begining of real mma. Id even say feed a couple of the weaker males to cyborg or gabi garcia. Id watch

She's the best...if you want to be the best you go to her!

there isnt a 125 division in the ufc.

But, if theres to be another womens division that will likely be the one. A fair few 115'ers that can go up, a few 135'ers that can go down, and theres quite a lot of talent at 125 to bring in, especially in Russia and Eastern Europe.

125 is full of hotties.
