4 out of the last 5 championship fights have been won via points.

You have Bore St. Pierre to thank for ushering in the era of point fighting, lay and praying and "winning" on judges scorecards.

There literally has never, in the history of the UFC, been another belt holding champion who was so incapable of finishing opponents, and depended so much on scorecards for victories.

Championship fights involve fighters of generally higher skill level and it seems a decision is the most likely outcome.

I came into MMA fanhood during the great lay-n-pray epidemic of late 2009 - 2012.

Things have only gotten better since then, tbh. If anything, I think there's a little excess standing and banging by fighters who desperately want to have a following and know that knockouts/standup wars are often the only way to do so.

Furthermore, as already mentioned, championship fights are associated with a higher skill level, as well as much higher stakes. Less risk taking behavior in championship fights is the result.

Don't blame everyone for Woodley, Khabib, Mighty Mouse & Joannas tactics.

GSP was the best champion we have ever had. Nobody has ever dominated the Octagon the way he did.

Now? There was a time just a few years ago when wrestlers were lay n praying their way to decisions all the time. It got so bad that Dana cut a couple guys that were in the top 5 for losing one fight. Things have been way better since.

Anderoid fan detected.

But...that's simply not true.

1) Nunes TKOed Pennington last.
2) Then we had Khabib decision Al
3) And Rose decision JJ.
4) Then before that, Cyborg TKOed Kunitskaya.
5) Before that, Yoel KOed Rockhold. Under the criteria, it was a "championship fight" even though no belt was awarded.

That's 3 of the last five ending by knockout.

And if we want to go back to the last 10 title fights, 5 of the last 10 ended by KO/TKO. Considering a little under half of all fights in UFC history end in decision, you're just...woefully misinformed.

The people that make it to the Championship fights are harder to finish, they are the best and fight the best so a ko or sub isnt always in the cards. There has been some point fighting though without question.

Which proves once again something everyone past elementary school (where they think everyone should like the same flavor ice-cream, the same kind of music, the same movies, the same sports etc) knows: boring is subjective.

Some people like GSP's fights (enough that he was one of the biggest draws in MMA). Some people find his fights boring (enough that there a loads of threads on the topic). Most of us find this completely unsurprising - some people like classical music and hate rock, other people hate rock and like classical music. Where is it written that people are supposed to agree on music, or whether GSP is entertaining or boring? Of course people are going to disagree on this, that's what people do.

No we don't.

The ufc as a whole is a point game nowadays and has been evwr since chuck liddel retired.

Imagine chuck lidell winning a decision for a championahip fight...now we have guya like khabib, aldo and tyrone woodlley they are decision machines
