Social Is tiktok making people dumber ?

I don't know who produces it, but who watches it for sure. This dopaminergic stimulus in the prefrontal cortex causes the person to lose the power to concentrate and interpret more complex things.

I feel like this has been posted several times before.

Social media - TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, 0nlyfans, simply feed into a desire people already had. There weren't a ton of geniuses whose collective IQs suddenly lowered when TikTok came out... those who are being stupid on it would've found other things to be stupid over.

Also, the dumb crap and "challenges" we see on there are likely the minority that we hear about due to representation bias. Most of the postings are likely innocent and tame.
 
in China, where their app focuses more on science, engineering etc, not so much. There's a reason why China limits their youth on how much time they can spend on these apps.

In the US. 100 percent yes. not just made us dumber, but more mentally ill, starved for attention/validation and materialistic.
 
It definitely feeds in to the short attention spans people have.
As a result you might be right about lowering IQ.

TiKToK is Chines also their Chines version has 400 mill users.

No it doesn't focus on science and engineering. The Chinese app is just as brain dead as the American one. @zapataxiv lives in China now. He should be able to shed light on the Douyin crackdown.

The Japanese one is braindead too. It's just lots of short clips of girls dancing.

I will concede that I may be wrong about this. from my understanding, the CCP limits the usage of it their socila media apps contingent on age, and have instituted a function where you can longer scroll indefinitely.

My initial point still stands that TikTok and social media apps are damaging much of our youth.
 
there was a tiktok challenge for people to hang themselves and people did it not understanding the consequences
 
people forget a lot of the contributors are already involved in performance arts. It's just another outlet for them

I think it actually started with youtube then instagram then tik tok the fact that everyone uses the word "bro or bruh" for everything shows how dumb society is getting the vocabulary is getting worse this new generation also seems to be less empathetic and more sociopathic that I find disturbing low EQ generation.
 
i tried going through tiktok for a whole hour. it's mind numbing. never again.
it's mostly thots, feminine dudes, girl with giant tits showing you a list of the biggest capitals in the world for like 10 seconds, endless deformed animals that are somehow "cute", teachers dudebros in their forties explaining what the latest thing biden said means.

It is mainly video games that the CCP is worried about. Something about fear of cyberaddiction for teenage boys. They have rehab camps for kids to stop using the computer. I am guessing since they limit video games playtime then the kids continue on social media.

China is weird with their morality. Porn has been always illegal in China while prostitution is somewhat tolerated. They cracked down on mukbang videos but they also crackdown on restaurants that serve big portions of food.

oh yeah, I was helping coordinate the disability network at our school when the pandemic started and none of the students gave a fuck about them. I've never seen such selfish tripe in my life
