Is this a KO punch ? Poll

@KORMA says this isn't a KO punch... he thinks it's poor technique. I don't agree and think it
would have lopped Machida's head off if it landed.

I love Jon and do think he can generate a lot of power, even in his punches but if Machida were a little slower that punch would have connected with Machida's hand, then if Machida was a slower than that it would have hit his arm, if he was even slower it would have hit his neck or upper chest, if Machida would have just stood there... yeah I think it would have been a KO shot.

if he connected maybe. Depends on the persons chin, depends on how lose the other person is, depends if he is a bit more tense because he is also throwing a punch or about to, depends if the other person was moving forward or backwards upon impact etc.

So many things or factors. The fact is you don't know if it would be a knock out punch until it lands and it actually ends up being a knock out punch.

Any punch has KO potential if it lands right. Holding your hand out straight while someone runs into could knock them out. In this case, it looks like Jones tried to time Machida coming in with a Liddell-style overhand right, but Machida wasn't coming in, he was just zigging and zagging and footworked his way right out of trouble. There are tons of punches like this thrown every fight. If Jones had guessed right and Machida was coming in, sure, it could have knocked him out.
