Is there anything more mystical and amazing than Matrix Silva

I mean look at this, round 2, Silva chooses to put his hands down and just matrixes all over Yushin Okami…. Magical stuff

it starts at 10:05 here.

In MMA, there is nothing so mystical or amazing as this man in his prime relative to his division. He didn't just dominate and win. He STYLED on cats in impossible ways regularly.

LONG LIVE THE KING!

Yes. Silva is atg but one who can play his game in mma is on control most of the time. Maia had his own matrix at ground.

I’d also encourage you to watch the last 20 seconds or so of round 1. Silva starts to loosen up, feints with his hands a lot, then paws out with his lead (right) hand, quickly grabs and pulls down Okami’s hand with his right and lands a fast head kick over the top.

<5>

Quality stuff. I remember watching that fight and as soon as I saw Silva starting to shift gears I thought that we’re in for some magic. I wasn’t wrong!

His use of head movement was beautiful throughout the fight. Even when he dropped his hands, Okami wouldn’t fully commit on anything more than a jab as he was careful of getting countered. Then he was dropped by a counter jab as he was throwing a jab

<DCWhoa>
When Silva started "shifting gears" you stopped eating chips or popcorn and put your drink down and became one with the action on the TV. I remember the feeling - "Uh-oh....uh-oh..... oh shit, he's loosening up...... oh fk - dude's outta there, just watch....."

He was magical. His finishing ability is still among the best in MMA historically.

Maybe, maybe not? Okami was a very strong grappler. I would probably pick prime Marvin to beat prime Okami, though. But Okami is probably not even in Anderson's top 10 best wins, is he?

Guys like Hendo and Vitor would 100% KO Marvin Vetorri. Marvin has a great chin but those two guys had the power to KO anybody.

Also, Marvin has really good takedown defense but I guarantee Chael Sonnen would take him down every round.

Behind Vitor, Hendo, Sonnen and Franklin, Okami is easily Silva's best win at 185, and would have been favoured vs any other of Silva's tittle challengers. Actually beat Marquardt and had a very close one with prime Franklin when Okami was still evolving.
He is by far a top10 win of Anderson Silva.

This Vettori vs Okami discussion is stupid. Silva styled on people, didnt just outpointed them as Israel did.
Still, prime Okami could give Vettori all he could handle anywhere the fight took place

Okami beat Alan Belcher twice which I find pretty impressive. Alan looked very promising

Lol people shitting on Okami's striking.
Yall are fucking whack.

It's still a grown-ass man that's trained to (essentially) kill -- coming right at you.

To just toy with people and destroy them, relying pretty much solely on reflexes, technique and speed alone.
If you don't appreciate that - fuck you, you ain't an MMA fan. You're probably a fucking retard or an idiot IRL.

Spider GOAT.

Alan was very legit. He was arguably Bisping's best win up until his one-eyed, late career championship run

Okami not exactly known for his striking

Yeah lots of MMA fans don't seem to realize this. Look at who he matrixed and how those guys were punching. Also, go to a good boxing or muay thai gym and you'll see that every now and then.

LOL at the Okami disrespect. I was expecting the video to be Griffin.

Okami was never a world-beater, despite constant attempts to convince us he was.

Okami was one of the most underpromoted top ranked fighters of his generation, constantly relegated to the undercard and denied a tittle shot. Not exactly a product UFC pushed to convince anybody. He just kept winning

Gave prime Rich Franklin all he could handle, then won two UFC tittle eliminators vs Marquardt and Tanner, got robbed vs Jake Shields and beat other ranked fighters as Lombard, Belcher, Muñoz or Swick.

Dont need to convince anybody, its proven enough, certainly by the standards of "world beater" Vettori

Okami was huge for a MW too.

Hes so good people just down play his opponents.. remember prime strickland out striking izzy though I guess strickland is the greatest striker ever now .. and izzy who was claimed to be the best striker ever is a bum now

Excuse me but Yushin Okami was never a big MW, let alone huge. It was a meme parroted by casuals and sherbros.

He fought half his career at WW never missing weight.
Weighted-in at soft 200lbs with clothes on for a LHW bout vs OSP.

A below average sized MW by today standards.
A tiny MW by Pereira's standards.

WW Lima vs WW Okami in his late 30s:
