Conor or the UFC will try to set up a rematch? Cain / Aldo / Weidman etc all demanded rematches. I'm surprised someone like Conor wouldn't want to redeem himself and would rather pack it in and move back down to defend his belt, especially after losing like that. Wasn't this the mentally strongest fighter on the roster? Did he break that easy?

In the post fight presser, he said:

“145, it’s a cut, it’s intense, but I make it and I make it every time,” he said. “I think 145 will be next. I’ll defend my belt. I believe maybe Nate will fight dos Anjos now. I think after I defend my belt and climb myself back up I think I will get my shot at that lightweight belt once again. Maybe me and Nate can do it again.”

He should have been defending his belt all along, his attempt to win a belt in another weight class was in the toilet from day one and I have been screaming it. Him holding up a division because he thinks he is above everybody else not only will screw up and make him look bad but he could be holding that guy back from accomplishing his dream and winning that 145 lb belt that is sitting collecting dust. He would have looked invincible had he pulled the win off but it just did not work out that way. He said in the post fight presser he was scrapping the shit shows and going to defend that UFC pride.
