Is there any chance of getting a legit TS for DC? Blaydes? Volkov?

As entertaining as this whole Brock heel / DC face narrative is, and as hilarious as it would be if Brock won, it would also be nice to give an HW TS to someone who has been climbing the rankings, ie

or

I'd be fine if DC just vacated the LHW belt because there's no legit challenger left for him there anyway. But I'd like to see the UFC keep things rolling at HW. Probably not likely though.

DC stated in his post fight conference that he won't fight either of them because they aren't big enough fights.

Unlikely he defends the LHW belt as he said "the only challenger is maybe Gus if he wins impressively next mknth but the last time we fought nobody bought the PPV"

He's got 7 months left until he retires and is interested in money fights only

Cormier said in a post interview with Ariel and Chael that he wants to fight Brock, then have one more big money fight and he'll retire. He even stated that he'll never share the octagon with Blaydes because that fight just isn't a big enough fight for him.

The UFC should put Cain as backup for DC vs. Brock. If Brock gets popped or injured and pulls out then it's DC vs Cain for no.1 anime betrayal.

I'd definitely respect it more to see Blaydes or Volkov in there, but money talks and it is what it is. Blaydes is only 27 and Volkov 29 so making them wait another 3/4 of a year isn't the worst crime, and dc will vacate the title in April so maybe UFC May they fight each other for the belt? Or the ufc could do a HW 4 man tournament something like Stipe v Volkov, and Blaydes v (jds/ivanov)

I mean, Volkov is top 5 right now on a 6 fight win streak, 4-0 in the UFC riding 2 knockouts in his last 3 fights against ranked guys, the last of which, he put the #3 ranked former champion out cold. That's usually fairly title shot worthy.

But he's not a "jacked white boy" so people who don't even actually like MMA (just storylines and characters) won't buy it. To be fair, the UFC would be idiotic not to do a freakshow fight, despite Dana's previous insistence that they totally don't do freakshow fights. Why would title shots be given to the guys who proved it the most? There's no market for MMA as an actual sport.

DC basically answered this question, with a firm no.

However a lot can happen. With the amount of pullouts that have been going on lately, they just need to stay ready. I'd like to see Volkov/Blaydes go at it though, that's a good fight for a true #1 contender spot.
