Is there a purpose to your existence?

I am not certain that we are truly individuals. We are likely much more related than it may seem. Uniqueness could be a viable characteristic, but it is probably no more than a developed societal device. All life on Earth could be a singular entity surge of energy, released and elongated by time. Time allows energy to liquefy.

Religion is matter of misinformation. Diversity of information is the way forward.

When someone gets their exclusive news from someone like this, is it really far fetched what they say?

"If you have a perfect pendulum, it will simply swing back-and-forth in a straight line forever, until something like air resistance slows it down to a full stop. For a very long, very heavy pendulum, this could take days.

But if you have a perfect pendulum that lives on, say, a rotating planet, something very, very interesting happens.

The pendulum, swinging back and forth, will be affected by the Earth’s rotation! The effect won’t be visible in just a few swings; in fact, if you were at 30 degrees North latitude (as the diagram above shows), it would take two full days for the pendulum to spin around once, or five minutes for it to rotate a mere one degree.

So what happens if you do this?

Well, the first time this was demonstrated was in 1851, by the Frenchman Leon Foucault, and the device is now known as the Foucault Pendulum. In fact, there are many of these all over the world, including the world’s heaviest one right by me in Portland, OR. The results are almost immediately striking.

The simplest way to do it is to build a long pendulum with a heavy mass, and tie it off at a small but significant (5-10 degree) angle. Leave it overnight. In the morning, come in and mark its position, and then burn the string you used to tie it off.

Why burn it? Because this way, you won’t accidentally introduce any angular momentum; the pendulum will simply swing back-and-forth in a straight line.

And then come back to it. Or, if you’ve got some time, just watch it go. Know what you’ll see?

The pendulum indeed rotates at the exact rate you’d expect if the Earth rotated once per day, regardless of your latitude! Not only that, but there are some pendula out there that are situated with a spike on their bottoms and a sand-pit beneath them to draw in."

You can easily calculate the rate of the pendulums progression to determine the speed of the earth rotation.

You, Scyther, can do this experiment at home.
1. My question is not answered. How do you know the Earth is spinning at 1,000 mph?

2. The gif you posted is not a real life example it's only a computer animation. Where is the real life example of this that we all can see.

3. If the Earth is spinning there should be no still pendulum in the entire world. Why do pendulums stop at all? You cited wind resistance, but if the Earth is moving shouldn't the pendulum continue to move, how can wind resistance slow down something that moves based on the rotation of the Earth?

(allegedly 1,000 mph)

4. Why don't all pendulums move in the same direction?

Here's a 5 minute brief debunking of Foucault's pendulum I do highly suggest you watch it.

It’s supposed to be your born, the strong who can provide make it to adulthood, breed, die, rinse & repeat.

Now with modern medicine we have the weak and sick making it to adulthood, breeding, and diluting humanity. We stopped letting nature take its course.

Well according to eugenics that’s what’s been happening for the last few hundred years or so.

If I see absolutely any credible evidence for your views I'll start to bother watching your videos.

If I were as wedded to such a earth shakingly important one as you profess to, I would be conducting the science to determine it's validity.

I guess for you it's about belief eh?

Look I only want to show people the evidence, that's all. I can only hope and pray they'll do just a bit of research into the evidence and see the truth. I know it's difficult to swallow, go into it with an open mind.

I actually have read a bit into Gnosticism before. The creator God (Demiurge) is essentially a dumbass in their philosophy. The Schopenhauer quote I posted is certainly in-line with their idea of suffering being the fundamental mechanism of material life. They also believe in beings called Archons (parasites of a sort) created by this foolish God, that torment us endlessly - this being, more or less, their function/purpose. The creators are like indifferent scientists to them. But the one that created this world did so out of sheer stupidity, as it ventured outside of the realm they reside in at the center of the entire cosmos, and in doing so, fucked up and gave us this.

Another interesting school of thought is Catharism. Dualists that consider the material world to be a creation of evil, while the spiritual realm is that of good. Earth is Hell to them, and we are trapped in a reincarnation loop, subjected to this Hell over and over again, until we can learn to resist the sensual temptations this place provides. Our souls, to them, are divine sparks caught in the web of the material world. They also considered the Catholic church to be "the synagogue of Satan".

Whatever the case may be, life seems like a pretty raw deal to me, and this world we live in an exceptionally awful place.

I mean Gnosticism in a broader sense, Catharism is a form of Gnosticism. Gnosticism should also not be taking literally, its a metaphorical religion/philosophy(?) ... i am not sayng you do, just though i should mention it, since Gnosticism is so much deeper than it first seems.

I personally do subscribe to a Gnostic "school" but to the idealistic version and not the dualistic one. Mainly because i think the dualistic view as a whole is outdated and materialism/determinism is for mentally challenge people (laterally, just look at @Mike no offence).

I do agree that we are living in some kind of hell, specially if one considers that everything you love and cherish will be taking away from you, and if not you will still die so you will be detached in one way or another regardless. Besides, sorrow and misery last longer than happiness, my friend lost a child, when the child was born she was happy for like a month and then when the child died, well it happened 2 years ago and she is still in pain.

The age old question. People didn't know so they made up some dumb lame reason like a God put us here to test us if we're worthy or heaven or hell. If God is so great and all knowing, he would know the moment we're born like how ants assign each baby to either soldier or worker group.

Now we have science and people are still choosing to ignore the obvious. We're just a living organism like bacteria and all other living things. Our goal/job/purpose is to pass down information (dna). Bacteria multiply and recreate/dupe itself and slowly expand and evolve. Same thing for human. We mate, we duplicate, we pass down our information. The process is just slower and not as complete.

Now you ask ok if that's our purpose then what is the end game? The end game is continuing life. We started off as a weak 1 cell organism to now a human being able to experience orgasms and other cool stuffs. So we continue to mate and pass our information down and evolve. Our future kids will become super intellects who might be able to experience orgasm on the molecular level. Maybe in the future, we can pass down our brain knowledge to them as well. We will conquer galaxies and universe. That's it man

Just continuing life and enjoying it. Some people say but we die then game over. No we're immortal. Bacteria don't die because they dupe themselves and multiply. Us too. We make babies and continue our legacy through them. Our kids are our clones. They look and act so similar to us.

Maybe you will be reborn/reincarnate as your own great grand kid.

Probably not but there's an existence of my purpose.
