Is the "no tapping to strikes" sherbro the worst kind of sherbro?

Never once did I have a natural inclination of thinking a fighter is a bitch for tapping to strikes.

It was only after getting on here that it became a thing.

it's pretty prevalent amongst fighters. not even in MMA but in boxing also. "quitting on the stool" is kind of a derrogatory term and is basically the same as tapping to strikes. it's just because combat sports attracts meatheads, fans and participants alike, is the main reason why it's engrained into the culture.

Even if I grant you the limb submissions to avoid injuries that might prevent you from training, it still doesn't excuse the tapouts to chokes. You can definitely refuse to tap until you go out, but over 90% of the time dudes tap and the mma community is perfectly fine with that.

Charles took no real beating and tapped to Islams head and arm choke a second after it was applied and everyone gave him a pass for some reason, meanwhile Jones beat Shogun to within an inch of his life by the time he tapped and people still shit on him for it.

So yeah there's no good logic for this way of thinking my man, it's just some weird taboo invented by a bunch of meathead simpletons, and repeated by those with a similar mental capacity.

Tapping is generally more accepted in grappling. That's not a hard concept to grasp, my dude. It's not as accepted in striking. Some guys refuse to tap to anything, some guys will tap to only some things, and some guys will tap whenever.

Saying that tapping to strikes is frowned upon by strikers is not a "weird meathead simpleton taboo", it's a fact. Typically the only ones who defend tapping to strikes are weird ass fanbois of fighters who have tapped to strikes. It's quitting. Yes, tapping to submissions is quitting too, that's why it's called a submission.

Barring an injury, freak accident, or something of the sort, tapping to strikes is generally frowned upon in the MMA community. Less now than before since there's a shitload of white knight weirdos pretending to be concerned for cage fighter's brains.

Grow up, kiddos.

you can't blame someone like Shogun for tapping or GSP vs Serra though. they were done in those fights. it's worse in boxing because i've seen guys who quit because they knew something was wrong and the commentators would shit on them too for quitting, only hours later to find out the guy who quit had a brain bleed/is in a coma/died as a result of the damage and nobody goes back and cancels those asshole commentators for assuming the guy was bitching out.

I’m surprised this is even still a (semi) serious argument with everything we know now.

I don’t need to care or be emotionally invested to see an obvious nonsensical hypocrisy.

You can’t give any logical reason for it, your justification is basically “it’s not acceptable because other meatheads told me so”.

There's always exceptions. In the case of injury, accident, etc, as previously stated. Is normal. Quitting is still frowned upon.

I gave you multiple logical reasons. Most notably that quitting is frowned upon. You just don't agree and/or can't relate. Is normal.

It's a prevalent chain of thought for the majority of people.

It's a weird mentality to have that enter into someone's mind.

We're so used to seeing peeps tap and it's normal.

When we see them tap to something that might be preventing brain damage, we look down on it.

I know younger AnswerDriven might agree, though it just never entered my mind that this person is a bitch when they tapped to strikes. It wasn't until I got on here that it was an issue.

I don't remember peeps on Ironlife giving GSP shit. I certainly never did and gat damn did he avenge that in spades.

Remember Tyson vs. Williamson in Iron Mike's comeback fight?

I didn't think Tyson was a punk (most people don't in his case) for quitting on the stool. Odd. Sure. But never as something negative or inferior.

No, you gave me zero, and you’re still giving me zero.

Why is it acceptable to submit to a triangle or RNC but not to strikes?

I have. Multiple times. You're quitting before you're finished.

And how are you not doing the same when you are tapping to a choke?

Submitting is quitting.

The difference between the two (fucking sad that I have to explain this) is that a locked in submission is getting finished, while not being knocked out is not. Some guys have the same mentality with chokes and refuse to tap.

Conceding to a locked-in sub is viewed differently than tapping to strikes. It's literally that simple, fella.

We don’t tap to strikes, we fap to strikes.

thank you, I’ll be here all weekend. Don’t forget to tip your wait staff, they’re working hard out there.

I’ve never had Jon Jones smashing me in the face to know whether or not I’d tap. Only people who have been beat down by Jon Jones should be able to comment on whether or not they’d tap to strikes.

Dana slapping his ball and chain brought out the worst

Chilvarous incels are by far thw worst lol
